Glowconsin was very fun, and our host Susie was very responsive and answered all my questions before the trip and when we had a snag at the campsite when we arrived. The grass and plant life was a little overgrown compared to the posted pictures, but the privacy of the campsite was great and we loved to be out of the city and in nature. It was easy to find and the proximity to Buckhorn State Park and Castle Rock Lake is unbeatable. Although not all the amenities were quite as expected, I definitely recommend the site for it's privacy, location, and the host's responsiveness.

Overall this was a nice, private site. It could definitely use a bit of clean up, as it doesn’t look as nice as the pictures show. Even just a quick mow would make a big difference. The shed also was messy and smelt pretty bad.

For a quick stay it met our needs, especially at its price point.

The 'glow' in Glowconsin is definitely from the awesome fire pit. It is HUGE and I'm certain the glow from a full fire in that pit could be seen from a long ways away. Bring your own outdoor cooking equipment tho - it's too big to cook on. The toilet facilities were very clean, the site was private and quiet. We completely enjoyed our stay at Glowconsin.

We happened to choose an unseasonable ecool weekend, which cut down what we had planned to do in the lakes in the area. That was not anybody's fault. The campsite itself was clean and private and very large. We had one large tent one small tent a screen house and a teardrop trailer, and had no problems accommodating all of them. The host, Susie, could not have been friendlier or more congenial in our conversations through email and text. I would recommend it, and would consider coming back when the weather warms up a little bit.

Glowconsin was a nice spot in the woods. I am sure one could enjoy the Glow more at different times depending on mosquitoes. They were bad in July this year. Loved the price and being able to pop up all the necessary tents. Not as open as the picture shows but I loved the pine forest. Lake was a bit of a distance so I am not if you access from property or not. Didn't seem to be a trail anywhere. We drove to beach on the lake and had a nice hour there before driving on. There may have been a fee but it is unclear and no one around.

I took my two elementary aged siblings to camp here and we had a super great time! It wasn't as isolated as I expected (we could hear the highway the whole time), and the bugs were pretty bad in the woods. However, the trees surrounding the site were really lovely and the lake was awesome! We went to the boat launch half a mile down the road and swam in the morning, and had the lake all to ourselves, and then hit Buckhorn State Park in the afternoon to swim at the beach. Susie was super helpful in her responses, and answered all our questions quickly. Thank you!!

The site itself was lovely with an enormous fire-pit amongst the pines. Sadly there was poison ivy everywhere all around so not an ideal site for those hoping to tromp through the woods. Also, this wasn't a deal breaker but you could def hear the highway so those looking for absolute nature sounds would have been disappointed.

Response from Susie, the Host, on July 10th, 2020

Hi David. I'm sorry to hear you had mixed feelings about your stay at our property. We've been caring for the property for over 10 years and we've never experienced an issue with poison ivy. We do have quite a bit of raspberry vines, which I can see how could be confused with poison ivy. Wishing you the best in your future camping endeavors!

Nice clean spot with giant fire pit! Close to the road and a few minutes drive to the lake. Fit four tents comfortably.
