The notion of Earnest Acres began simply, but with serious and sincere intent to help our three kids understand the connection between food and the earth, and how to be stewards of the land. As the world continues to change, our ideas have evolved into our counter-narrative to environmental degradation. We spent three years looking at land in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin. In June of 2016 we found 14 acres on the Rush River in El Paso, WI. It was love at first sight. Surrounded by a small and vibrant community in the river valley, whose name harkened Sarah’s Texas roots. The land has class A trout stream river frontage to the south, and sky for days. The bald eagle circling overhead the first time we stepped foot on the land and the natural biodiversity of the space sealed the deal. Earnest Acres is 7 acres of forest and rock outcroppings and 7 acres of tillable land. Our current mantra as we grow our business is bees and trees. We follow organic farming practices, though are not certified. Our focus is native tree and perennial species. In the spring of 2017, Tony introduced two honeybee colonies. The future holds cultivating the 1/3 acre vegetable plot currently cover cropped in buckwheat, medicinal plant beds, a farm stand, and expanding our orchards and berry patches. More than anything else, our approach to this land is an earnest attempt to rekindle the innate wisdom it holds in the indigenous ecosystem, and use this to contribute to a healthy future for all children. We look forward to sharing it with you!

Sweet Spot on the Rush River
Great spot
Great place. If you like to camp and not cook the El Paso Bar and Grill is within walking distance. Great food and reasonable. For being amongst neighbors it is very private. No cell service which is great for me. The lower part of the property it prone to flash flooding due to it being below a steep hill side. Take care to select a safe camp site. I will be back.

Sweet Spot on the Rush River
We loved this site! It was easy to find and the host was very friendly. If you're into fly fishing, this spot is ideal. On the property there is a river access point were you can fish for trout. There is also a bar & grill within walking distance that has horse shoes in the back which seemed very popular among the locals. Not to worry, even though the bar is close, you'll feel like you have all the privacy you need. Great spot, we highly recommend.
