Located in the secluded valley of our homestead, The Gathering provides ample space for up to 3 tents or campers adjacent to our greenhouse. The original 1800s log cabin provides a historical context and unique backdrop to your visit.

We have plenty of room with the ease of a pull around. Choose from a 35'x200' flat grassy area next to our prairie or a 16'x70' area between the garden and greenhouse. Tents are welcome to nestle into the trees for shade. All areas have easy access to water and electrical hookup from the greenhouse.

We love to entertain our large extended families and we setup this listing to accommodate group gatherings. The 3 sites are located in close proximity to each other but are booked individually.  Note: you may find yourself near a camper "friend that you just haven't met" should you not need all 3.

Other amenities: a bench swing hangs from a large Tamarack limb, tiki torches, sitting area, and a shared fire pit with complementary wood for your first fire. Garbage and recycling drop, and water is available inside the greenhouse. Adjacent to the greenhouse is a large cushion seating area and umbrella beverage counter. The greenhouse and seating area has patio lighting for enjoyment into the evening. A short walk across the meadow accesses the port-a-potty and hand-washing station. A sink area in our pavilion style garage is also accessible for dishes or cleanup.

Explore the greenhouse and garden areas - full of seasonal produce and herbs (also for sale per availability). Flower gardens scatter color about and a pine treed hillside shelters a hammock, rings, and swing that entertain young and old.

Meander groomed walking trails through 30 acres of woods and prairie - 10 acres of which was planted in 2019 as a dedicated Monarch habitat planting. This is a full sensory experience - spectacular celestial starlit nights with serenading hoots owls, frogs, crickets, with occasional yips of coyotes in the distance. The honey bees are humming in their boxes, rooster crowing, and chickens do their daily foraging through the yard and woods. Turkey and deer are very common sightings.

Yard games available for use: Volleyball, badminton, bocce ball, trackball, and ring horseshoes.

Area Highlights: Amish bakery (7 miles), and Amish woodworking shop (1/2 mile) - note both closed on Sundays. Kayaking The Hay River (1 mile), trout fishing Turtle Creek (5 miles), riding designated ATV trails (we're on route) Silver Creek Trails to bike and hike (9 miles). Ask us about area farm sales of locally sourced produce & meat, farmer's markets, and pizza/craft brew farms.

This place is beautiful, it couldn't have been better, the flower meadows are beautiful! Allen and Sue are wonderful people. In the greenhouse they grow the yummiest vegetables, they are super helpful and if you ask, they give great advice on the local places. They invited my son to gather eggs from the hen house and he had a great time doing it, as well as picking vegetables for our meal. We definitely recommend it!

A small, charming organic farm hosted Sue & Allen, both really down to earth and welcoming. Fire pit, was also great! Of course we loved buying their freshly picked produce not to mention the homegrown ginger! The Gathering Place is really well done, the property is well taken care of and welcoming. I would recommend it anyone who just wants a quick, quiet getaway, only 1.5 hrs from the twin cities.

The Gathering at Good Root Growers1st ginger!!These beautiful veggies, along with some fresh herbs and nasturiams (abobe) made an incredible salad that night with fresh mozzerella! The Gathering at Good Root Growers

I knew that I would love their property from the moment that I turned in with lush trees that opened up to their beautiful farm. Allen was super nice and accommodating to any of my needs and in the morning his wife Suzanne gave me a full tour of their farm and greenhouse. I loved it so much that I decided to stay an additional night. Will definitely be returning!!

We had a really nice long weekend! Allen & Sue were so wonderful! They were helpful (gave great suggestions for what to do on their property, printed maps of nearby activities, etc), very welcoming and extremely respectful of our interest in being careful during the pandemic. Their property is beautiful, especially the butterfly habitat! We saw deer and loved their hens and dog! Their groomed trails were very nice. The fall colors were out of this world. The fresh eggs and produce we purchased we fabulous! We'd love to go back.

Allen and Sue are amazing hosts. They are passionate about everything they do. Amazingly friendly people with a beautiful farm. We had such a wonderful time doing nothing but stare at the trees and decompress. I would highly recommend going their place but not too often because I do not want you to take my spot😉

Across the meadow. Greenhouse and sitting area during the day. CabinThe Gathering at Good Root Growers

We camped with our 4-year-old here, and he had the time of his life. He became besties with the family’s farm dog, Lincoln, and had a blast walking the trails with him. Allen took the time to teach us about the farm, let our child pick eggs from the hens in the morning, and even gave him a giant sunflower to take home for our birds. It was such a gem of a place, and we can’t wait to come back when all of the wildflowers are in bloom!
