Visiting Watermark Farm was a unique experience. The farm is located off the beaten path alongside the South Fork River and it's gorgeous location for relaxing and submerging into nature. Finding the destination can be a little tricky but, with the precise directions from the host David it's locatable. For the drive in I would recommend 4W drive, we arrived when it was raining and had we not been driving a Subaru we might not have been able to access the property.

To access the campsite we hiked in about 7 to 10 minutes from the car parking area. Once arriving at the campsite there are a couple of places you can set up camp. I recommend a lower grass area to avoid ticks in high grass fields. At the campsite there is a large fire perfect for family gatherings and telling camp stories. When we woke in the morning we explored the camp grounds and had coffee at a higher point on the 1500 acres of land. There is plenty of bird watching that can be done on the paths leading around the farm or at one of the two ponds.

In the late morning the host David sent a tour guide,Larry, down to show us the property. Larry guided us through the farm showing us the farm animals, gave us a history of the farm, and shared future expansion plans. He gladly talked to us as we canoed around the pond (canoe was provided, YAY!), and while we fished. He was an amazing asset to our experience at Watermark Farm. During our final hours near the farm we went down to visit the local general store, about a 2 min drive from the farm. At the general store we learned more about the community culture of Peru, WV and the history of the general store building. The owners were very happy to share artifacts they retrieved during building renovations and share stories of previous store ownership. The store sales anything you might have left at home, home cooked meals, and some hand made crafts by Peru's own. My family purchased a wood carved magnet made by Larry's wife.

Watermark Farm is an overall relaxing place to visit. If you're looking for a place to disconnect, listen to the sound of the earth, fish, canoe, and hear cows mooing, this is place for you!

Taking Chaco out for a spin on the pond. Getting the tent locked on. Camp on the river.Casting out!
