Ever wonder what’s at the end of the Earth? Well, now you know! You’ll find a place to crash here, and yourself, too. Our 100 acre farm is tucked deep in a beautiful holler on a winding country road, and it's anything but a dead-end. Life is teeming all around and it’s behooving to match its relaxed pace, starting with the mountain miles it takes to get here. No need to drive white-knuckled looking like a deer in headlights. Enjoy taking your time. We bet you’ll soon agree that, without these ancient hills among us, it would be way too crowded and noisy. As it is, we already have our fair share of natural neighbors, and the silence can be deafening.

The Crash Pad is a private, simple, comfortable cabin with on-the-road access for car-campers. Hike, swim, relax and reconnect in nature. We give you a short orientation and a map of the property. After that, you're on your own to enjoy the hills!

SPACE

The Crash Pad is a simple, insulated one-room building made of recycled material. It has a double bed, single bed, couch, table, chairs and space for your belongings. Drive right up to the deck and park your car for easy access in and out.

FOOD/WATER -Bring your own food, drinking water and ice for the cooler. We will refill water & ice as needed. (some snacks available)

HEAT/LIGHT - propane heater, lanterns & flashlights

LINENS - sheets, pillows, pillow cases, comforters, wash cloths, towels

KITCHEN/COOKING - single-burner cook stove, cooler, pots, pans, cooking/eating utensils, dish towels, dish rags, dish soap, charcoal grill, charcoal, grilling utensils. Short hike to the pond for a campfire ring with grate for cooking there. Campfire Wood available upon request.

BATHROOM -Just a few steps outside the door is the Oval Office, our composting toilet. Clean, odor-free, and environmentally friendly. Includes toilet paper, hand sanitizer & wet-ones.

GUEST ACCESS

You'll have access to trails over our 100 acres of wooded hillsides, fields, mountain ridges, rocky outcroppings, streams, a swimming pond, frog pond, and the road in and out!

HOST INTERACTION

We welcome you, give you a map, suggest some great spots to see, and leave you to enjoy the greatest playground ever, Earth herself. We provide water/ice refills, and are available 24/7 for emergencies.

NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW

The Crash Pad really feels like it's at the end of the Earth, the last human dwelling for miles. We live just a short walk up the road, but you have only hilly wilderness behind you. All your other neighbors are furry, feathery or scaly.

GETTING AROUND

WHILE HIKING: No need to stay on the trails, but if you go to the ridges, come down the same side of the mountain. The hills are a convoluted labyrinth and its easier to get lost than you might think. If you do lose your way, follow a stream/bed out to a road or house and ask directions. Everyone is helpful, most are kind and polite about it.
