We began operating our 150 acre farm in 2011 and became the first Certified Naturally Grown Livestock farm in West Virginia in 2013. We raise grass finished beef (40 head), meat chickens (500), Turkeys (50) and laying hens (240) on pasture.
Campers can hike and find a very secluded spot or we have a more traditional space with access to an indoor restroom, picnic table and fire pit. We have a beautiful, park like farm with many sites for camping.
Terra Alta is a rural town with close proximity to Swallow Falls State Park (MD), Herrington Manor State Park (MD) Cathedral State Park (WV) and the Deep Creek Lake (MD) area. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore withing 40 minutes of our farm.
We welcome campers of all backgrounds.
Campers can choose to eat with us at a family style dinner for an additional fee. We prepare most of our food from scratch using local produce, meat and bulk organic dry goods. We occasionally make yogurts, noodles, simple cheeses, and fermented foods.
Caveat-While vehicles are allowed to drive into the site near the fire ring, if there has been a lot of rain we may restrict vehicles to parking on a gravel drive about 200ft from the main camp site (tent camping). We also have some nice secluded places to park camping vehicles on heavy use gravel farm road with walking access to water/firepit etc.

Jennifer and her husband were awesome! They wanted to make sure I was all squared away and offered to make me dinner. The view here is INCREDIBLE!!! I literally sat on my chair with my beers for 5 hours watching the sun set and then another two watching the billions of fireflies!! This place is magical. I will be coming back in my travels. Thank you!
My group and I cannot say enough great things about Jennie and her family! First off, campsite itself is awesome, we put 3 tents on it and were able to have distance between them and enough space for Cornhole and bocci ball. The space is alongside gardens and berry bushes, it's also far enough from the main house to feel private. Access to a nice toilette and shower was great as well. Most important! Book a dinner there! We chose to have dinner for 6 made by Jennie and and her family at the farm, eaten alfresco. We had pulled pork sliders on homemade buns, baked bacon mac n cheese, a phenomenal salad with homemade ranch dressing and angel food cake with homemade whipped cream and peach preserves. SO GOOD. We cleaned our plates then just spent the next hour talking about how good it was. We toured the farm, met the goats, pigs and cows. Jennie and her family are friendly and never intrusive, they answered all our many questions. We ended our stay by picking up souvenir shirts for the girls and their pasture raised meat! Again, 10/10 would recommend, and definitely treat yourself to the farm to table dinner!
The camp site was nestled behind the owner's home behind a small bunch of pine trees. The site was very spacious and clean. There were a couple of trees to hang a hammock between as well. The access to the bathroom with a shower was a very nice perk. Brian the owner was very informative and really friendly. I would definitely go back for another adventure.
Jenny and her family were so sweet! We felt right at home. The grounds were absolutely spectacular and well-kept. I loved being able to walk to the bathroom and have a hot shower and flushing toilet readily available. There was also firewood and a water pump with potable water. I also loved having breakfast with Jenny's family my last morning there. The location is also close to gas stations, which is a big plus in case you forget anything during your camping trip. I would definitely recommend this location!
What a wonderful experience we had at the farm. even with all the rain we were able to enjoy a rich experience with access to animals, tons of fields and very importantly (especially during the rain) a functioning toilet. Will go back again and again
Ps my biggest regret when leaving was not having purchased any of their meats. So do take money to consider buying some on your way out. Everything look incredible!
We hipcamped for the first time at this farm. What a cool experience. My favorite memories...the cows mooing in the evening, the sunflowers in the late afternoon sun, the sunset over the distant hills, the snow globe starry sky, the sounds of nature at night, waking up to mist in the fields, and then watching the sun burn it away. Jennifer and her family were very gracious! What a lovely adventure!
Wow this spot is like a storybook! Gorgeous property, animals everywhere, beautiful flora and winding pathways. Jennie and her family were incredible hosts, including providing us a bathroom in their home to use, a state pass to a local park with waterfalls and we enjoyed two meals with their family which were lovely. The campsite was spacious with two picnic tables and a fire pit (bring your own grill set up), and even though you are in a backyard of someone's home at night it feels like you found the ends of the earth! Amazing sunsets and star views as well. Highly recommended for a farm experience a little slice of heaven in West Virginia.
Jennifer's place is beautiful! The camp site was nice and she met me as soon as I arrived.
Unfortunately we got caught in a storm so I only stayed one night and left first thing the next day, so my interaction with Jennifer + family was limited.
Had the weather been better, I'm sure it would have been an absolutely lovely stay!
