The Born family invites you to get away and unwind among the hills of the West Virginia Countryside. John and Angela Born met and married in the river front city of St. Louis, Missouri where they, along with their six children, made many summer memories picking fresh fruit from the fields of local farmers. After attending a year long farming course in the Midwest, John and Angela moved back to West Virginia with a desire to provide fresh, locally grown strawberries for the Charleston area. As they began searching for properties, the Borns quickly noticed the natural beauty surrounding the 130-year-old farm house they now call home. The farm’s fertile soil, abundant streams, and family friendly atmosphere make it a wonderful location for growing and sharing fresh produce. Angela, now as a fourth generation innkeeper, and John as a first generation farmer invite you to their West Virginia home to relax, unwind and make memories with your family.

Strawberry Farm Forested Camping-
Dangerous hike
We left a day early because it was raining and the trails (steep hills) to hike to the campsite were a mudslide, with 6 inches of standing water in places. We were prepared for rain, with gear for our tents, ponchos, and rain boots. And obviously, we don't fault the hosts for rain, however we should have never been allowed to camp up there, or at the very least have been warned that the coming rains would make it nearly impossible to make it back down safely. It is a miracle that none of us were injured in our trips up and down the washed out hillside with our gear. We would have appreciated the heads up and an alternative place to set up camp OR we could have been told the camp was unsafe to hike to when it rains and we would have found an alternative place to stay. Our hosts were out of town for the majority of our stay. They were very kind people, and breakfast was delicious.

Strawberry Farm Forested Camping-
Highly recommend. Angela and Jon were welcoming and responsive. I found Jon tidying up the camp spot upon arrival. It’s a great little secluded spot up the hill. The hike is short bit steep. There’s a cute little lake just up the hill from the camp. There’s a nice view of the sky at the top of the hill. None of the hikes are long, just steep. And worth it. Also worth it - breakfast. Best dang $10 you’ll ever spend.

Strawberry Farm Forested Camping-
Be prepared for a hike.
Angela and The Strawberry Farm are very sweet and friendly. But the hike to the campsite is more challenging than we would have guessed from the listing. The trail is very steep in sections, rocky and uneven and was muddy during our visit.

Strawberry Farm Forested Camping-
Lovely night in WV!
We loved staying at the farm! We ended up utilizing a site closer to the road which was a terrific spot, the breakfast in the morning was top notch, and the hospitality was generous and couldn’t be beat. Thank you and would definitely recommend!

Strawberry Farm Forested Camping-
Wonderful spot
We arrived in a rainstorm and were allowed to last minute change our reservation from tent camping to the barn loft. The loft was cozy and it was wonderful falling asleep to the sounds of the ducks and chickens below! Can’t recommend this place enough if you are passing through the area.

Strawberry Farm Forested Camping-
Hidden gem of WV
So thankful that we stumbled upon this little slice of heaven! The campsite is beautiful and secluded, while still being conveniently close to where you’ll park. Angela and her husband are the sweetest hosts and you MUST try their farm fresh breakfast. Visiting at the end of May was a dream because we were able to pick strawberries! We are already hoping to return next year🍓
