This place has tons of fun stuff to do, and it's so convenient that they let you use their boats and that they give free firewood! Site was nice and flat. Pretty private. Lots of fire pit options. And really easy to find.
Lots of people around the lake in the afternoon, so it's easy to make new friends if you're hoping to!
As another has mentioned, after the rains it was a little swampy in the tent area--tent platforms or something would really add to the location, but it's still fine without that.
The only legitimate complaint I had was that we were woken up at about 6:45am by someone operating some big machinery (a Bobcat or something similar) around the lake about 150 yards from the tent site, which was really unpleasant.
Overall, a 6/10 experience.
Buffalo Gap is a great place with fun amenities in a good location. The site is clean, has free fire wood, great pond with free equipment to use and a fire burning sauna on the pond. Quiet hours are enforced (10pm to 8 am) and Vince (the owner) is great and dealt with a not so pleasant issue that we encountered straight away. Michelle the caretaker was also incredibly helpful and very friendly. Due to the heavy rains the tent site was a bit boggy and as the nearest portaloo was in the main site it wasn't very pleasant having to trapse through wet grass when you needed to go to loo...would be great if they had a portaloo in the campsite as well. I did feel a little bit vulnerable in the tent area as it is a bit away from the main office, everyone else and no security lights, thankfully we had our dog with us and that was a comfort. The site allows you to enjoy nature, have fun and relax as much as you want too. All in all Buffalo gap is a great place with enough to keep young and old happy.
It was a nice, secluded little place! It was a little difficult to find at first, but only because we were driving in the dark. Once there it was super nice and we were able to choose a nice fire pit. There’s a beautiful, clean lake with things like kayaking available. All in all a beautiful little hidden spot
