The cabin is located on 10 open acres of prairie and wetland. The amenities are soft, the land can be rough. We are located close to Deception Pass and within a short drive to the other state parks on the island. There is seclusion, peace, and room to have for yourself.

The cabin is situated in a small kettle on the land that has become a perfect spot for birdwatching. The windows are situated towards the west, providing beautiful sunsets and amble bird watching opportunities on the feeders outside. So far we've seen: grosbeaks, tanagers, pileated woodpeckers (these come daily), hairy woodpeckers, flickers, finches, hummingbirds, eagles, owls, and nuthatches to name a few.
The cabin has a soft queen size bed. A wood burning stove and record player will keep you warm and set the ambiance. A propane heater is provided for the chilly fall and winter months. There are solar powered lights inside with USB ports to charge your devices off of solar. The only real cell service on the land is through Verizon but the other carriers work in town. There is no running water but we have rain barrel collections for washing dishes and cleaning up. We do have potable water to share and also recommend you bring your own. The toilet is a compost toilet located in your private outhouse. There is plenty of wood around to be gathered for fires. Friendly chickens, a dog (Pepper) and a cat (Bruce) free range around.
We are super pet friendly and encourage you to bring yours to roam and play and have some off leash time.

We loved staying at The Bird House! A warm and cozy space with all the bird watching your heart desires. We spent our trip playing games, listening to records, cooking delicious food, looking at the bird books, and watching all of the birds. It was so quiet and peaceful. Just what we needed! There is a cooking RV that has everything you will need to cook amazing food. Stove, pots and pans, spices, fresh eggs from the chickens, etc. Everything is run off of solar energy which is wonderful! It's so private and sweet. Austin is an amazing host and was super helpful. Highly recommend! We will be back!
Stayed at The Bird House. If you're looking for a quaint, rustic setting with the essentials, this spot is for you. Comfortable queen bed and hot wood burning stove. Turn table and records are a great touch. Bring flashlights/headlamps and batteries as a backup to the cabin's solar power. Was fun to cook dinner in the camper. Austin was very accommodating and good communication.
What a delightful stay! The space was super clean and cozy with so many wonderful, artful touches. It’s a great place to disconnect, take a break and exhale. The bird feeders brought hummingbirds and woodpeckers to the window in the morning. The outhouse was cleaner and more comfortable than most bathrooms I’ve been in. Given that I stayed mid-winter, I made great use of the wood burning stove - really appreciated how well stocked the wood pile was (and the stove was prepped for my first fire, which was so thoughtful). It was just lovely and I look forward to a visit in the summer!
