Our family favorite for over 150 years can now be yours!  Hot Springs Meadow is a well maintain grassy meadow at the junction of two legendary rivers, the Wind and Little Wind. The first campsite on the property and most accessible with plenty of flat space for large groups, RV's, or just a bunch of tents.  The most ideal location of all campsite's that allow's easy access to hot springs, fishing, swimming, and easy "in and out" to go visit the local towns.

*Be prepared/aware to see other campers or fisherman walk thru the upper part of the campsite to access the trial to river and hot springs.  However the site is so large you will hardly notice them if you don't camp right next to the trail.  There is no doubt, that this site will provide nothing less then a stellar outdoor experience on any level you roll!

*This campsite is awesome for large groups and is connected to the network of trials on the property that are a good adventure during your stay.  We recommend at least staying for two days to get the most out of this Hipcamp experience!  Park,Camp,Enjoy.

Beautiful peaceful private campsite right on the banks of the Wind River. This is an amazing location with access to seasonal hot springs and hiking trails in the gorge. Dog Mountain is right down the road and Carson Hot Springs Resort is close by. The meadow offers plenty of space for a large group and is very private. There are no neighbors nearby or any road noise. The campsite is down the road from the main home on the property so you have lots of privacy. There is a large fire pit with plenty of seating and enough room for at least 5 tents and several vehicles. The site is right on the Wind River which lulls you to sleep at night, and during the day you can soak in the sun on the sandy river beach just steps away from your tent or bring your SUP or kayak in the summer when the river flow is low and explore the river. Our hosts were great and made us feel very welcome!

We only had one tent, but there is plenty of space for more.Enjoying the campsitetent dog animalFirepit with seating and plenty of parking nearby

Chris was an absolutely fabulous host, he was incredibly warm and welcoming. The meadow is definitely a tick haven, but the generous stack of firewood and beach access are well worth fending off the vermin. The site is perfect for big groups and has pretty solid access to explore the shores of the Wind River if you're up for a bit of a rugged, rocky walk. An explorers dream. All of the fisherman encountered on the river walk were quite friendly, but I would not recommend staying the night if you're not comfortable with wanderers joining your party. The Wind River is certainly a local hot spot and the locals will let you know it. Many fisherman casually passed by the campsite to gain access to the river, but we had one fisherman boldly confront our group regarding our burning practices. I can assure you we were not burning plastic nor any noxious agents besides the firewood provided. I would still recommend for a large group trip when seeking full sun exposure with a plan to swim +/or hike directly from your site.

The chilly Wind River still felt refreshing on a warm hiking day.Dead pup on the water's edge after hiking up past all the hot springs, water was still too high to access any warm water.

What a magical place -- total serenity in the woods, wide open field to camp-out in and the river just next to it. Plenty of space for several vans, great space to have a campfire and hang out at night. River is great for fly-fishing, nice little trails for hiking, and with a great 4x4 you cam make it up some other nice gravel roads ... plus a super cool host to welcome you and show you around the vary large overall property. Cheers!

Van-life at its best ... fun place to circle the wagons!

Lets start with the story behind it.
When we try to book a hotel room with hot spring, we really sure they dont feel like nature. From a comment of the all trail page lead me to this host :3
Novice camping & driving a sedan doesnt make me feel nervous with this campsite.
- big camp area
- private property for all camp and hike you wanna do
- portable potty is super clean
- nature still stay the way it is (bees, guy! They are everywhere in Carson tgis season. I got sting couple times since these bees hive is underground)
- the hot spring is really hot! Nice.... They look the same style with the umqua (more like a pond, so dont expect dramatic look like the cougar) I hope they can extend it a bit wider.

In general, we dont use all the benefit the place give me but the experience is so nice. If the burn ban lifted, it willbe nice.

Hot spring pool next to cool river.

This site was amazing! It fit our large group with lots of room to spare. Incredibly private, no one camping near us. An occasinal local would walk through to get to the hot springs or go fishing but they were quite and friendly. Not a problem at all. The host is super nice and helpful if you need anything. Also, provided firewood! How amazing is that? Another review said they found a lot of ticks but we didn’t have any problems. We will definitely be coming back.

Great spot, everything we were looking for. Only hangup was the porta potties on site hadn't been serviced and were in dire need. I hope they can resolve that issue for future guests.

Sorry about the Porty's Potty's Jeremy. The 2 on the property get pumped every other Wednesday and since the (4th of July) fell on that day - the cleaning service was closed. They came and pump, cleaned and filled up TP the following day when you left. Other then that "hang-up" I hope you crew enjoyed the firewood, cutting maul, and all the fun actives near by! Hope you guys visit again :)

Amazing site! beautiful view of the river and sky. We saw multiple eagles and hawks flying around during our stay. Chris was a great host, super friendly but gave us our space. There was a huge pile of firewood at the site and a rug perfect for placing in front of our tent all ready to go when we arrived. There is a trail nearby to the hotsprings. We probably saw 3 people total as they went to and from the hotsprings during our weekend stay so it's pretty private. Awesome kiting in Stevenson is 15 minutes away and Hood River is 30 minutes away. First time I've ever been able to camp this close to Hood River without hearing trains all night. Will plan on coming back again and again!

This spot was amazing! Seriously, we kept joking that we weren't going to tell anyone about this place because it was so great! The only downside with the meadows spot is that there is no shade, but besides that, it was incredible!

Hipcamper Wind Wood
Response from Wind Wood, the Host, on July 21st, 2018

Well, when you live in a place that doesn't have sun for half the year a "warm sunny spot" like this is not a down side ... 8) Just hit the river or bring a sun shade!
