Shady Escape
This was the ideal spot for our week-long trip, staying in the foothills of Mt Rainier. Surrounded by trees (the land is an old Christmas tree farm!), a hiking trail on property, dog friendly, full hook-ups for the RV and plenty of space, an hour from the trailhead in the park, and the sweetest hosts. Would absolutely encourage any camper(s) looking to spend some time in a quaint mountain town close to Rainier, to stay here!

My wife and I had a great stay at Glorya’s. It served as the perfect base for our Mt Rainier explorations. Hookups worked great and the spot was level and private. Easy getting in with our 35’ fifth wheel. She generously shared her knowledge of the local area (as well as some of their garden bounty). Her background as a massage therapist came in handy when I had low back issues. Her kindness and helpfulness went above and beyond any expectations that we had. Easy conversations with her and Jimmy. We felt like part of the family. We arrived for a site and left feeling we made new friends.

We loved the Shady Escape. Originally booked the full hook up site, but they offered the back open wooded field spot since we had extra campers. It was so serene and peaceful, but also had great WiFi and cell service. We had a 40 ft travel trailer and friends had an overland camper. The area was perfect for us and the dogs. The hosts are so wonderful, they provided a fire pit and corn hole. The location is close to mineral lake for fishing and Rainer base camp and Elbe. Our group had a great time, we will definitely visit again.

Glorya and Jimmy are perfect and friendly hosts. The site is clean, level and quiet with hook ups for electrical, water and sewer. We stayed at the old farm for two nights when visiting Mount Rainier. This site is conveniently located and a great find. Highly recommended!

Gloria is super welcoming and her property is beautiful. She gave us some fresh veggies from the garden and helped answer any questions we had about the area.
Would highly recommend if you want a nice private campground within ~30 min of the entrance to rainier.

Glorya and Jimmy are lovely, friendly people who run a peaceful and quiet spot among tall trees. We met the family dog and cats, took a recommended hike on Elk Poop Trail (and saw elk!), played corn hole and sat around a pleasant fire in a contained and lidded fire pit after a wonderful day of hiking at Mt. Rainier. We had full hookups on the flat, graveled drive and slept peacefully. Highly recommend.

Glorya was so sweet and the camp spot was perfect. I didn’t use the hooks-ups but she had water and electricity + a campfire. I was hiking wonderland and didn’t feel like driving back so this was a quick find. no expectations but ended up being great. i stayed in a DIY Van but the space was big enough for a bigger rig!!

We had a nice long weekend stay at the The Old Farm. It was great chatting with Hosts Glorya and Jimmy about the history of the Farm and meeting their dog Max. It's a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet. Highly recommended!

Lovely property, clean bathrooms and a very nice fire pit. The space would be perfect for 2 camp sites, but ended up being a little cramped for 5 (neighbors did not read instructions and brought a big crew). We appreciated the attentive owners checking in and partially refunding us. It sounds like they are working hard to make it an exceptional experience and will be decreasing the number of sites to 2. It’s affordable enough that I may book them both if we’re in the area again. Great proximity to a lake with pontoon rentals and Mt. Rainier!

Quiet and close to Mineral Lake

We booked the utility spot and 2 field spots. Upon arrival we realized the field wouldn't work for our other campers and Glorya and Jimmy were flexible and let us devise a way to share the utility space between our 3 campers. They were friendly, checked on us to make sure all was sufficient and even went into town to pick up a 30 to 50 amp converter when we realized their box was a 50amp only. The fire pit doubles as a grill and we were minutes from our paddle boarding and horse riding activities. It made for an exceptional women's trip and we would go back again.

Tent camped here 1 night because of proximity to Mt. Rainier. Great host and location. Ground is a bit uneven (as mentioned in previous comments), but we found a spot that worked.

this is a very nice spot, peaceful and beautiful, with friendly hosts and reasonably good access to Mount Rainier National Park. The level gravel pad had full hook ups and easily accommodated our 28 foot RV towing 8 foot cargo trailer. I highly recommend this camp if you are going to be in the area.

Great spot! Glorya and her husband greeted us when we got there with their dog Max (seriously so adorable), and made sure we had everything we needed. We were there for 3-4 days and enjoyed the space and privacy. No ofher RV spots either which was really cool.

Field Escape
We recently stayed at The Field Escape and had a fantastic experience. The location is ideal and serves as a great base for exploring the area. For families, it’s a dream. Our kids loved the open space to play and roam. We booked all three field sites, which gave us wonderful privacy and made it feel like our own peaceful retreat. While I can’t speak to the experience when booking individual spots, our stay was incredibly quiet and relaxing.
The hosts were amazing: friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Even the porta-potty was impressively clean and conveniently placed.
One unique and fun aspect was hearing the historic trains from a nearby museum during the day. The kids loved it, and the sounds added a charming touch without being disruptive.
We highly recommend renting a pontoon boat at Mineral Lake, just a minute away. It was a fun and easy outing for the whole family.
The only small downside, which the hosts mentioned they are working on, is that the sites aren’t perfectly level. We brought some basic leveling gear for our trailer and had no issues.
Overall, we highly recommend this spot, especially for families looking for privacy, space, and adventure!

Really lovely spot, just at the foot of a large hill, nice open spot, great for looking at the stars if you’re lucky. The hosts were super lovely, had a great chat with them, as well as super caring. On our first morning we woke up to hot chocolate sitting beside our tent which was very appreciated given the cold night. Honestly, well worth the trip, and super close to Mount Rainier!
