What a great spot, host, and overall experience!

We had been searching for a public campsite recently with no luck when we stumbled upon Hipcamp and then quickly located Don's listing. All three of us (two adults and child) loved the site and felt compelled to share more about what was a really nice experience.

Some things we really enjoyed:
-host: Don was a really great host; his care and attention towards his guests' experience was very obvious and he really went the extra mile in many ways
-location: the campsites are both well-equipped...drive-up access, shared bathroom (camp toilet and solar shower; we heard that Don is working on a plumbed permanent setup), ample flat lawn space for multiple tents, fire pit, firewood (supplied!), water access as desired (river was too high to venture in when we were there); Marblemount itself is convenient to many N. Cascades spots (Sauk Mtn. and many other trails, Lake Diablo, Winthrop, etc.)
-privacy: this was a huge difference from the public campgrounds we've visited, which have been far less private and generally packed; there are only two sites and both are well away from each other and the main road; there was a nice feeling of seclusion while being very spacious; Don seemed available for anything needed but gave us privacy as well
-chickens, ducks, etc. - though they steered clear of the camping area, they were there for a visit as desired; there were also really good raspberries and strawberries for picking

Again, this was an entirely unexpected and lucky find. We were very satisfied with the site and all the hospitality, and would not hesitate to make a return trip or recommend this site to anyone else.

This is from the back of the site we stayed at. There's more space further behind this pic (until you get to the river about 30ft or so further back). To the left is a forested area accessed by a path. There's a clearing there where you could pitch tent.View of the site in the background. The river is beyond the trees shown in the back of the picture. The chairs/logs, etc. are around the fire ring. Lots of space here to pitch multiple tents. This view is looking out from the campsite toward the main road; you can see a garden in the distance. The road is completely blocked from view. The site is on the other side of the trees/vegatation at right. Campers there are not visible from this site.Lots of space!

Thank you John! It was a pleasure to have you and your family as guests! I hope you come back soon. I have 7 types of raspberries, so there's some available almost all summer here, and the everbearing strawberries are still going strong, so stop by and have some. I would love to hear more about the nuances of coffee roasting, and maybe you can help me utilize my hops in the way they were intended to be used! Thank you for being a guest!

Great stay. Communicative host. Private, none of the crowds that you find in campgrounds. Would definitely stay again.

This is a lovely getaway from the hustle bustle, and provides a private river side camping experience. We were two families camping - the camp site was spacious, surrounded by bushes/trees, with the Skagit river flowing yards away. We had a camp fire site, a few chairs, and plenty of space for the kids to run around. Bathroom facilities are basic as of our visit (tent site, don't expect flush toilets) - but that's part of the camping fun.

Big shout out to Don for being an exceptional host, especially given we were his first hipcampers. He was quick in his responses, went out of his way to help make us comfortable (e.g. we were arriving late in the night, so he got a camp fire set up for us before we arrived; he set up reflectors and torch lights to make sure we'd be able to find the camp site easily, and worked tirelessly to make sure the common areas were thoroughly sanitized). And to top it all, Don's place has berries and he told us to help ourselves to our heart's content. An extremely warm and affable gentleman.

Would love to come back again.

Thank you Arjun! It was an honor to have you stay as a guest. I hope you will come back soon. I will try to make sure there's always good food available from the garden for you. And, I'm trying to get the bathroom with flushing toilets finished soon!

Don was incredibly sweet and friendly. We arrived late on Saturday and he offered to start a fire for us to help us settle in. His place is at a convenient location as well.

I absolutely loved the stay at Dons place. The area had a perfect grassy place next to the river to set up our tent, and a fire pit stocked with wood, chairs, and citronella torches. The bathroom area was immaculately cleaned often, and stocked with bleach wipes. When we arrived, Don gave us a quick tour of his beautiful garden and let us help ourselves to the delicious raspberries and strawberry gardens. We will definitely be back!

What an incredible place Don has. It’s a gorgeous spot right on the river, with more than enough space for two very private beautiful campsites. So much nicer than crowded state park campsites.

Don was such a great host. He shared firewood, and fresh berries and stories. And he showed my 6-year old daughter his quail and chickens and ducks. We loved our visit and will definitely be back. Thank you, thank you, Don!!

Don was an amazing host! He met us when we arrived. Brought over firewood and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a beautiful camp site down by the Skagit River. There was a private area in the woods where we could pitch our tent and a great fire pit area where we hung out and cooked. The garden was beautiful! It was very relaxing and we had our own private which with the current covid situation was desirable! He was very attentive to keeping the bathroom and shower clean. From the site we could easily access both Lake Diablo and the Skagit River for fishing and enjoying the outdoors. We had a great time and will definitely come back again! Thanks!

What a great find!
My husband and I were doing a motorcycle tour of Hwy 20 and Don's place was a great base camp close to all the amazing beauty there is to explore in the North Cascades National Park. While there are two sites on the property, we felt they were well distanced from each other. Our site was picturesque with access to the river and to Don's awesome garden which he encouraged us to pick what we wanted from.
Don himself is a friendly and gracious host who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, from firewood to citronella candles. We'll definitely be back!
