15 acres hosted by Sol M.
An area long inhabited by Chinook peoples, the Wahkiakum tribe likely referred to it as Chaquayalhum and lived in the area as a summer camp. By the 1780's trade ships began to arrive, and during the 20th century it became the site of two river towns, Altoona and Cottardi Station. After the decline of salmon these entities ceased to exist, and our land was logged (except for a strip of ancient trees along the rivers edge) and left to be overrun by invasives. We stepped in and began using ecological forestry methods to enhance the habitat, establishing dozens of native forest gardens to create a totally unique hideaway of privacy, serenity and engaging natural beauty.
Rose Creek is a mix of boutique camping, wildlife sanctuary, and edible agro-forestry restoration project. Here you can watch eagles hunt while ships float by, enveloped by the scents of heirloom roses, after picking berries in the afternoon sun. Or take a walk along the stream at dusk, perhaps the owls will be about!
There are no RVs or large campers; you'll have no immediate neighbors, as we only rent each of our secluded sites to one camping party.
When renting one of our campsites, you're renting your own private nature park.
