The vibe at R&R camp
Places to see near R&R cabin and camp
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Had a great stay at R&R. Extremely private (there is one neighbor house you can see, but it’s near other end of property), very cute decor and art around the cabin which my kids spent hours admiring and searching for new things, fun little path around the perimeter, and good mix of field / trees. We didn’t use the outhouse so can’t offer opinion on that.
It’s about a 20 minute drive off the main road on dirt roads up the hill; roads are well maintained, though narrow (single lane) in places so you don’t want to make a wrong turn. Google maps got us to the spot with no issues. There’s one or two sharp-ish turns but we were able to navigate no problem with our 27ft airstream + truck.
Nearby Carlton has a great sandy swimming hole right where the bridge is (discover pass required), it was busy in afternoons but we went several times in the late mornings and was empty.
Serene solitude, wonderful camping
We had a fantastic time at R&R camp! The property is beautiful and was exactly as described. We had the whole place to ourselves and parked our camper towards the back of the property away from the buildings. We did not see or hear another person the whole time we were there and were so happy to experience true solitude and wilderness. We saw an abundance of birds, including red-tailed hawks, deer, and heard some rowdy coyotes after dark, which was so awesome. This place is truly serene and I highly recommend staying here. Rachel was very responsive when we had questions and, although we had a bit of a tough time finding the driveway to the property, she called us back right away and helped us navigate. She said she will be working on putting some sort of sign or something bright up to help campers find the place. Google maps did lead us to the right area, we just missed the driveway the first time. We also had a lot of fun walking around the property and seeing all the cool metal art, trinkets, and gemstones the owners have collected over the years. We had a fantastic time camping at this property and will definitely be back. If you want to experience true solitude and nature this is a great spot. Our three dogs loved the freedom of running around and exploring the property. Highly recommended!
The property was wonderful! We would definitely go back again. We used it as a base camp for some running and mountain biking over the weekend. The bathroom situation was a lot nicer than we thought it would be! The only challenging part with the weekend was that the gps coordinates didn’t quite get us to the property so we had the call the host for clarification. THERE IS CELL SERVICE for Verizon.
Amazing location, stunning views
Staying at R&R was incredible. Stunning views and just enough creature comforts — a picnic table and an outhouse. The main camping area is gorgeous — a sprawling meadow with pine trees and flowing wildgrass. Plenty of shady places for a tent. At night, the stars were gorgeous. Didn’t see another human or vehicle the entire time! Made for a perfect long weekend with my wife. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
We really enjoyed our stay at R&R camp. The directions were great and it was easy to find. We hauled our 24 ft trailer on the unimproved roads with no problem. The site was beautiful and private with lots of open space. It was very peaceful and quiet. We loved listening to the birds and coyotes. Ryan and Rachel were friendly and accommodating. The only thing that we found difficult was that our dogs came away with barbed grass seeds in their paws and coats. We did not know to look at their paws so be aware if you take your dogs to this area. We loved this camp overall and would highly recommend staying here.
