Even though Lake Chelan is in the middle of a national forest, it can be as busy as a downtown mall on a hot summer day. If you’re looking for some real solitude, South Nevarre campground is where you want to be. Located 35 miles away from the lake on mostly dirt roads, you’ll likely see more wildlife than people out here. And who doesn’t want that when camping?

If the road conditions had been better I would rate a 5. Chelan county ranger district lists this as a "drive-in campsite" with no other details. DO NOT DRIVE TO THIS CAMPSITE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OFFROADING VEHICLE. about 30 miles of very poorly kept gravel road on the Cliffside the entire time, so no way to turn around. in the last 3 miles $700 worth of damage was done to our vehicle from brush alone. Hope this helps someone else avoid the tricky situation we ended up in
