This is a very rustic and remote log cabin situated on 120 acres that is adjacent to DNR state land. The cabin is perched on top of a beautiful large meadow with a 50 mile view. I rented this cabin for my husband and step-son as a graduation present. Joy was an excellent hoat, very helpful and responsive. The cabin is off the beaten path but the directions were spot on and they had no problem finding the spot. Both my husband and step-son are reserved people but could not stop talking about how beautiful it was, and the views, and the sounds.... They both said the cabin was awesome; my step-son even commented on how well it was furnished! It must be spectacular for these two to rave about anything, I can't wait to see, hear, and experience for myself!

The cabin had more than expected. We saw tons of wildlife. The cabin was excellent with amazing views, and I hiked to the lookout twice, it’s a moderately strenuous walk with an exceptional view. The cabin and the area exceeded my expectations and was a relaxing and enjoyable three days.

Toby Mill Cabin was beyond my expectations!!! I almost don't want to let this wonderful secret out! The cabin was clean and very well equipped, and we felt right at home. Views were glorious from the front porch all the way up to the fire lookout, and we saw wildlife everyday. Both the outdoor bathroom & shower were the highlight for me! Pure joy standing out in open nature taking in Mother Earth in a hot shower. And the open meadow was great for my 7yr old to run free but not out of site. I could not have asked for a better place to relax and enjoy the wild outdoors. We can't wait to go back.

As for our host, Joy was excellent. She was extremely attentive, provided us with detailed directions, checked in on us during our stay, and was very quick to respond to any questions that I had. Her kindness was most appreciated!

(*** a few notes for future hipcampers)
• At dusk bats come out and take over the front porch for about 30min-1hr. They zoom in and out and very close to front door. In April this was about 8:30ish to 9-9:30pm. So best to be mindful as to not let one in the cabin. They were fun to watch.
• The hike from the cabin to the lookout is about 1,400 gain. In late April just a few small snow patches left from the front of mountain, but the backside does not get afternoon sun and the road/trail was hip deep snow to the top. We made it fine with a 7yr old.

Joy was a great host! The cabin was easy to find and had plenty of room for me and my friends. Great views of the country and not too far from civilization, but far enough to have some privacy. Was surprised at all-cow welcoming committee, but they were nice and moved off after a little while. Would recommend to get away from the hustle and bustle for a couple days, and would go back in a heartbeat!

My self, son, grandson & future daughter-in-law spent 3 nites here and had a wonderful time. The view is spectacular, private and quiet. The cabin is clean and nicely outfitted with the appropriate utensils, etc. We hiked every day and just can't say how much we appreciated the owners assistance and answering questions immediately. Our goal was to unplug and be in nature and Joy's cabin met and exceeded our expectations. Thank you!

We loved our stay! It was wonderful to get away to somewhere with peace, quiet, and so much beauty. Our dogs loved the openness and hiking, as did we. Sitting on the porch and reading or talking with a coffee or a beer was just what we needed to unplug from daily life and relax! We needed some extra instruction on some things like how to hook up the shower and where to empty the sink water, but Joy and David were very quick in their responses to any questions we had, which was great! Some of the neighbors up the street did some target practicing with guns within view of the property, which didn’t bother us as they were respectful and still a good distance away, but just a heads up to anyone who may not be as comfortable with that. Joy and David- thank you for an amazing couple of days, we can’t wait to book our next stay! :)
