I have lived here for 22 years off the Grid and thought other people would like to share the tranquility Beautiful spot on the Humptulips river. We have one large area this year it looks like the flood waters may have changed the layout of the campsite. Our property is bordered to Washington State Fish and Wildlife public river access which you could camp for free here the state doesn't enforce there own rules this spot is very popular with the locals and can get crowded during hot weather (memorial day, fourth of July, labor day) I try to reserve for large groups only [over 6 campers] during these days. Fishing is a major strong point of this campsite. Trout, sea run cutthroat, and Salmon in early fall. There are very nice trails to walk and rocks to skip. There is a very nice swimming hole that has a very good shallow place for younger kids and a deep hole that you could snorkel up river for 1000' or go the other way and float the river for about 5 miles of very manageable river to the next boat launch. The campsite is basic with a 4' metal fire ring and several spots for tents and tables there is a Porta-Potty. We sell fire wood by the garden trailer full for $25.00 and usually lasts for two days

Humptulips Valley river camp
The area was very nice all though there where some trucks that were driving crazy all through the night and shooting guns. Someone even walked through our camp site.

Humptulips Valley river camp
Warning
It was beautiful and serene during the day but chaotic at night. Loud trucks driving recklessly, gunshots, and people in our campsite after dark made us (two women) feel unsafe. We left after one night (a Thursday) - not waiting to see how much worse it might get over the weekend.

Humptulips Valley river camp
camping on a pebble beach is cool
we liked camping rght on the pebble beach - even danced to music after dinner we witnessed two experienced fishermen catch a huge steelhead fish the next morning Donald was very nice and very helpful; he did apologize for condition of porta-potty which had not been cleaned out that week as scheduled - but it was useable; suggesting he add a hand sanitizer dispenser

Be aware before considering!
I had really been looking forward to staying at this campsite. We had made reservations as part of our week trip around the Olympic Peninsula this summer. When we arrived, we were greeted by Don, he was kind an welcoming. We arrived at his home as instructed and he asked us to follow us down to the camping spot at the river and mentioned he wasn't sure who was down there (we soon learned why). After a short drive down the the river we learned that the river spot shown in most of the pictures was actually a public access spot, anyone could camp down there. There were several other vehicles and trailers along the riverbed. He shared that the site above the riverbank was his property, which was the camping spot. The spot was dirty, had garbage all around and people had been using the bathroom all around the site and around the riverbank where he had designated at the spot for HipCamp reservations. There was a honeybuck that beyond disgusting and hadn't been pumped out or cleaned in a very long time. We stayed for about an hour while our kids played in the river and after about 5 cars pulled down to where we had thought of possibly setting up camp we decided to leave. We were so disappointed. We did not feel safe sleeping their with our two young kids nor did we feel like it was hygienic enough to even be there (no one wants to feel like they are standing in a public toilet with nowhere to go). The pictures we saw were beautiful but most that are shown on the site are to the public access riverbank that you don't have to pay for. Honestly, you couldn't even pay me to stay there.
