Michelle's property is such a wonderful place to get outside and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our drive in from Portland was peaceful and serene. Upon our arrival, Michelle greeting us and gave us a tour of her incredible property. We were also greeted with pups, pigs, chickens, and of course horses! From the moment we arrived Michelle made us feel like we were on a peaceful couples retreat! We pet the animals, roasted hotdogs over a fire, walked around the property and fell asleep while watching the beautiful stars. It was truly a magical place! Thank you Michelle!
I wasn't sure what to expect from Horse Lovers Paradise but I knew that my daughter loves animals and irregardless, we would have a good time. But it turned out even better than we expected! Michelle greeted us right when we got there and gave us a full tour of the ranch, introducing us to Miss Piggy (the huge pet pig), the other pigs, chickens, roosters, and of course, HORSES. The animal facilities are impressive. We had a quiet place to camp on the premises with a fire pit. Playful Patton (the golden lab) joined my daughter and I for the evening and got along well with our dog that we brought.
Michelle went out of her way the next day and really went the extra mile for my daughter, allowing her to help feed all the animals and even treating her to a crash course of horseback riding lessons with a very well trained horse.
Michelle's passion for animals, particularly horses really comes out and is fantastic to be around. She is a caring host, willing to go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable yet giving you your space.
This is an excellent location(short drive from portland/Vancouver) to get out of the city and live a different lifestyle for a night or two. Especially if you have pet loving children!
We had a great night at ruff ranch. Michelle was incredibly friendly and took the time to show us around and make sure we were comfortable, even offering us farm fresh eggs. We met the pigs (including their loveable pet potbelly, miss piggy, who roams around the property) and their two dogs. We didn't use all of the awesome amenities available (including a shower, kitchenette, bonfire pit) but if we had more time those would have made this a very comfy stay. The campsite is a bit more exposed than other campsites I've been to that are more tucked away, but we still felt like we had our privacy and felt comfortable walking around the property. This is a great place to get away!
From our kids 8 and 10, "It was so fun and amazing. The best was when the piglets got out and came to our tent and ate our donuts. We loved all the animals, especially the horses Gary and Rosie, but also Patton (dog), Buddy (dog), Junior (dog), and Shadow (dog)." Michelle was warm, friendly and very helpful in making our stay easy. We will be back! Thanks Michelle!
Michelle is an awesome host! We loved seeing and interacting with all the animals - piglets, horses, chickens and bunnies. Appreciated all the amenities - shower, bathroom, kitchen, fire pits, fresh eggs, just to name a few. Thanks for the great weekend, Michelle!
We enjoyed staying at Horse Lovers Paradise. Michelle was a great host showing us around and introducing us to the beautiful horses. We had an amazing time hanging out with Adam, Puzzle, Miss Piggy by the campfire. Thanks, Michelle! I would love to come back soon for horseback riding.
We had a great time at Michelle's ranch. We had 10 campers total (two tents and one Airstream). The ranch was cute and intimate. There was a beautiful communal fire pit which had a fire each evening and roasting sticks for marshmallows. The chickens and pigs are able to roam freely, which made for great kid fun. There were about five baby pigs that kept escaping their pen and the kids had a grand time chasing them to get them back to their mamma. We spent a lot of time in the stables, petting the horses and keeping them company. The stable helpers were really nice and let my youngest help sweep and clean the stalls. Michelle also gave the kids riding lessons and then took the adults out for a ranch ride. She also organized an art camp to keep the kids busy while the adults were out riding—our kids loved that! Really fun! It’s not a huge ranch, so there are other campers near you (there were about three other tents) and several other cars, but it was all very quiet and peaceful. There are no picnic tables so I suggest brining a folding table and a stove. On the other hand, there is a great spot in the stables to wash your hands with hot water, and a super cool rustic shower. It’s a fine place to bring an RV. There is a hookup on the side of the stable. But our parents chose to dry camp with a generator in the tent area, which worked out well. On our last day, Michelle brought us fresh eggs. I recommend this place and we would go back again!
What a lovely place to stay. My time there was short, but so far my favorite Hipcamp site on my Oregon/Washington road trip. Michelle and Bob were very helpful and fun to talk with. I loved showering among the horses in the barn and it was really fabulous to have access to a kitchen because the ham and cheese croissant I got from a lovely bakery in Portland needed a little warming and freshening up this morning in the microwave. I loved the pigs, chicken, horses and dogs. I didn't have time to go to the nearby lake, but it looked really cool. apparently there's a really fabulous swimming hole about 15 minutes from the property.
