Hidden Meadow Retreat is exactly everything promised. It's tucked away back in the woods and it's just this beautiful radiant green meadow with lots of open space. I loved how secluded and private this space was. The wooden bridge you drive over to come in is way cool. Made me feel like I had the world to myself being out here.
The location is great too, you are super close to Mt. Vedder, which you can drive all the way up to the top or take your horses if you want to. Then Mt. Baker is another short distance away, super beautiful and lots of hiking!!! Sumas is also right there on the border of Canada, so I ventured into Canada a bit since I was so close. Getting into Canada was a breeze, didn't take long at all.
The camp hosts I met upon arrival and ended up chatting with them a bit and they are so cool, also super nice and friendly! They had firewood back there all ready for anyone to use, as well as a trash can and a nice picnic table. They're still working on updating and making this campsite even better, so I'm sure by the time the next camper comes after me, it'll be even cooler. I really hope to come back again in the spring.
This is such a beautiful and quiet place, perfect for a little weekend getaway :)
Private nature oasis
The hosts were friendly and quick to respond when we had a question. The camping area was clean and well-maintained, and we had an awesome weekend here. Aside from a few expected ants and critters, we didn't have a problem with insects or the wildlife. The campground was quiet, save for the sounds of birds and buck in the distance. All in all, an awesome weekend!!
What a beautiful natural setting! We were visited by a small herd of deer as we relaxed around our breakfast fire one morning. James is a welcoming and generous host. Visiting the hidden meadow retreat will definitely be a repeat camping location for us!
We had a wonderful stay at the Hidden Meadow Retreat. It was a great location, quiet, private, and close to a lot of great hiking on the MBS. Lots of cool old trees around. James was a very thoughtful host. I highly recommend this spot, and I hope we'll return!
Beautiful private meadow with lots of space to yourself. Toilet is clean, with picnic table and chair, and a fire pit. There were some mosquitos but all in all, a great place to camp.
James was super kind and welcoming. This was my first time camping and he made sure I was comfortable and confident in camping. I had a great night staying at Hidden Meadow Retreat as a birthday present to myself and I might even make a tradition out of it. Thanks James!!
