Great view, really pleasant spot
We had been in lockdown for 3 weeks and decided to do some social distancing in the middle of nowhere. This spot was available last minute, so I decided to take a chance.
We got a late start and so we showed up around 6, so we needed to hurry to set up camp. Because of this, we just took the first spot Mariah showed to us, the "lower" spot that didn't have as great of a view, without taking time to examine both spots and make a choice. But it was still a *really* good view. It is difficult to capture in the pictures, but you are on the side of a mountain, on a flat spot, surrounded by orchards and vinyards. The thing you cannot really tell from the pictures is how high you are. You see Dry Lake and all of the valley below you for quite a distance. There was plenty of space for the tent, my truck, firepit, table for supplies, etc. About a 15 minute drive back to "town".
There was a pile of apple wood that had been cut from the orchard that we used for the fire. That was actually the only thing I think the host should tweak about the spot. The wood doesn't quite fit in the fire pit, and because it's relatively thin (2" diameter average, the largest were maybe 4" diameter) it would be consumed quickly. We ended up picking up a cord of larger logs at a grocery store when we were in town that were smaller but thicker, and then we didn't have to feed the fire so often. But this was a relatively minor inconvenience, my only bit of feedback for how the experience might have been improved.
A quick 2-minute hike down the mountain to a faucet for well water. There was a porta-potty available. No real place to shower or bathe. Dry lake is a decent trek down, and not really private, so I don't think you could really bathe there.
While it is a "private" spot, in the sense that nobody is around, it is on the side of a mountain in a valley, and so just as you have a great view, anybody looking can see you. Although they are so far away. Also, the sound carries from very far away, so it is not a super quiet spot. At one point we thought there was some major construction going on with major machinery going on just out of sight. But a little hike revealed that it was a single, ordinary tractor mowing in one of the nearby vineards and churning through some brush. The sound carries in the valley. Some dogs and coyotes at night from far away. Wasn't a big deal.
On our way our I went by the tasting room, and the view there really *is* amazing. You are on the top of a hill that is in the middle of the valley, so it is a 360 view of all 4 lakes.
I would definitely come back, and maybe give the other spot a try.
Awesome campsite, awesome host!
Everything we hoped for and more! The location was beautiful, the campsite was well kept and had a trash can and good sized fire pit. We had a perfect flat (enough) space for our tent with the best view. All the firewood we could ask for.
A very short walk to the wine tasting room served as our restroom and space to wash dishes. We went on several walks and jogs throughout the orchard/vineyard and out onto the quiet 2-lane roads surrounding the property.
No, you’re not out in the wilderness. You’re in a farming community- and you will hear tractors, the occasional dog barking, people working on their houses etc. in the distance. Sound carries. Didn’t bother us!
Mariah the host was very welcoming. Upon getting settled at the campsite we somehow managed to get the 2wd truck stuck in the very light dirt on a downhill slope (I told my boyfriend not to park there). Mariah kindly and enthusiastically pulled us right out with the farm truck.
Telling my friends about Four Lakes Winery and may come back myself in the future.
We had a great “social distancing” getaway!
Great stay at four lakes vista!
Mariah and Karl are lovely hosts, and the winery and campsite are beautiful! Well kept up site with a great view! Wine is delicious as well. I would highly recommend staying at Four Lakes Vista. I will be back for sure :)
Spring wine getaway
Great experience. My partner, kiddo and I loved the whole thing. Very private spot with an incredible view of the small lakes around Lake Chelan. Being able to use it as a base camp to explore the area was key. Every time we would come back to the spot, we relaxed into the feeling of our home away from home.
Mariah was super helpful and very nice.
The dogs present on property were great.
The wine was delicious.
Free firewood! Apple wood from the pruning is available. We had fires day and night for the three days we stayed, and were always amazed at how the pile would never seem to diminish. Loved this feature.
I would recommend the hiking at Echo Ridge, and the playing at Entiat county park on the Columbia River.
We will definitely be back again.
One of a kind camping experience!
It was awesome! Best version of camping you could ask for. Views were unbelievable, the cell service was beyond our expectations for the location. We had a baby deer come to our campsite and the marmats on the property were so freaking cute! The hosts were PHENOMENAL and their service was 5 star. Such a wonderful, and friendly atmosphere. You can expect us to come back again!
We loved our stay at Four Lakes Winery! The views were so beautiful and Mariah was a great host that responded quickly to my questions. Having a real bathroom to use and a place to wash our dishes was great! Mariah provided plenty of firewood and there is a hose near the campsite in case anything was to go wrong. Our dog loved it there, and I secretly wished their sweet dog Charlie came to visit our campsite to play!
At night, it was pretty windy which we didn't love, but its not enough to stop us from booking another trip in July to bring some of our family members 😁 can't wait to go back!! Next time I will be partaking in the wine too! 🥂
Had a great time at this campsite. The views are amazing and the campsite is very private... the wines are delish. Mariah and Karl were so welcoming with answering all of our questions and even helping us with firewood. I can’t wait to come back!
