Fitzcarraldo is a great base camp for exploring the north Olympic National Park area. It is located on Highway 101 between the Elhwa River park entrance to the east and Lake Crescent to the west. You can find a delightful creek and some great quiet places to string up your hammock while doing some exploring in the unlimited stretches of national forest to the south. A 16' RV would easily park and maneuver in the level parking area.
During the day, the adjacent highway makes its presence known; you’ll be out hiking, mountain biking, or paddling for that to matter much. The songbirds take over in the evening, adding their soprano to the nearby creek’s steady baritone. After a hot shower, you can sit around the fire ring, recount the day’s adventures, welcome the infinite number of stars that will keep you company for the night, and make plans for tomorrow over a beer or three.

Warm cozy cabin outdoor shower!
The place is great. Hot outdoor shower, place to wash hands, and your the only ones there!!! Cabin is well build, Fireplace can make it warm on any night. Host had water waiting for us, also had a small table inside and outside, along with 2 chairs. So don't need to pack a whole lot. It is close to 101 so you do hear the traffic, weekends not to back but weekdays with he trucks is a noisy. But great location if your exploring the National Parks.
This is a great spot for an amazing camping experience.
The cabin is cozy and comfortable, the bathroom is convenient, the out door shower is awesome!
The highway is a little noisy during the day, but quiet at night and early morning.
This was my first HipCamp experience, and would definitely book here again,
Doug's place was as described, and it was great. Good location for exploring the area,
great privacy, and fantastic hot shower (always welcome after a long day of adventure)! So many little things that made our time there easy. The highway is loud for sure but not when it matters. Thanks Doug for sharing your space with us.
Cozy & private with a great host
The cabin was cozy and private as described! It was cold out when we stayed, but the wood stove kept us nice and warm--and the frost was pretty. Doug was a great host, quick to answer any messages. It's also very near Lake Crescent which is gorgeous. Loved our stay!
