Great spot for last minute camping
This was as advertised and was a great spot for the family. The site was in great condition and everyone respected social distancing. Few recommendations that would have made it better:
- Hand Sanitizers - these were empty in the bathrooms which are even more important during COVID
- Family event - the host had a family event at the same time as full capacity at the site. This made it more challenging to use the boats which are the main selling point for the property
- Swimming - This is not a lake that is good for swimming since it is shallow. I would be good to call this out on the listing
First time using Hipcamp, and the bar is set high! We booked last minute at Honahlee because our original camping plans fell through, but we're so glad they did! Honahlee was quiet and peaceful, well maintained, and fun! There was tons of space for kids to run around, beautiful trees all around, and a nice dock going out to Lake McIntosh with paddle boats available for use. We met the owner shortly after arriving and he was extremely nice and friendly! We had a great time and certainly hope to make it back soon!
Great experience Camping on Dave’s property. We found a private spot in the back corner of the property where we were able to setup our tent hammock. Fun taking the peddle boats. Community fire around 8pm was nice. Warm outdoor shower was also a nice touch. Definitely recommend.
Big trees & nice folks
Special little spot with super tall big trees and lake access. Easy to find and the hosts were very gracious. We shared a fire at the end of the day and we they let us take their paddle boat for a spin!
Our first hip camp! Dave and Dawn were super responsive—answered questions quickly and even made a fire each night in the big fire pit. The land was nice and we were able to use the small boats and paddle boats in the lake. The lake is not swimable but it was fun to paddle around. We were packed in a little more than we expected and the toilets were pretty full by the end of the weekend. Overall a good experience and we were glad to find such a last minute site.
Dawn and Dave were great! For such a small area, a few too many “spaces” for us. Would have been much comfier with 2-3 less groups. (Mostly now during pandemic) also having a private gathering of family one of the nights during which all the boats were used and a dozen people would be in the space was a letdown. Maybe let people know it’s not a guarantee they’ll be available?
