20 acres hosted by Rachel C.
Our family lives on 20 acres just outside Port Townsend Washington with Discovery Bay and Olympic National Park a stones throw away. We are blessed to live on the Larry Scott Trail, Olympic Discovery Trail, and Pacific Northwest Trails (Larry Scott trail marker 5.5m). We have been told that our property was an old mining site for the railroad company a century ago. In addition, we have heard that there may be hidden gold treasure buried somewhere nearby (as a result of the Victoria Canada Paymaster Heist!). On our property you can find lots of trees, berries, and animals including owls, frogs, deer, coyotes, and more.
Learn more about this land:
Located in a lush forest on the Quimper Peninsula, this spot is perfect a night or two of camping.
We were inspired by three thru hikers we recently met in the backcountry at Olympic National Park hiking the PNW Trail who said they passed right by Carben Forest wished they could have camped on our property.
Carben Forest is located on 20 acres right in Port Townsend, Washington. Our family of four is homesteading in a 1968 Airstream and love nature, hiking, and the outdoors. Come join us on the property to relax for a few days or to explore the Olympic Peninsula!
Our site can easily accommodate two tents and up to 6 people. It has chairs, a wood slab table, and a small fire pit (we provide firewood for the first night!). From your campsite, you are a few steps away from the Larry Scott Trail (but still very private), 15 minutes to Port Townsend, and ~1 hour to many of the Olympic National Park access points.
In addition, we have an outdoor setup for cooking and cleaning. For cooking, we have a refrigerator for your use, a gas-fired BBQ, and more. For cleaning, we have a warm water outdoor shower (amazing after a hard day hiking or paddling!), washbasin/sink, and a composting toilet dedicated to campers.
We are HUGE fans of the Olympic Peninsula and our local businesses!!! We are happy to provide recommendations for any and all of your needs during your trip. Some of our favorites for food include Finnriver Cidery, Chimacum Corner Store, Hama Hama Oysters, Discovery Bay Outdoor Exchange, Port Townsend Vineyards, the Cocoa Forge, and Velocity Coffee; for getting into nature we love Fort Worden and the Elwha River. We have hiked, camped, surfed, in the area for over a decade, and have enjoyed this area's amazing farms & restaurants since moving out here several years ago. We're happy to provide detailed recommendations.
Most importantly, we love to share our land and community with others. We look forward to hosting you, your friends, and your family for an inspirational and relaxing Olympic adventure.
