Our family and animal friendly campsites are located between the Terlingua Ranch Lodge and the Terlingua Ghost town on the edge of Big Bend National Park. The feeling of peace and seclusion combined with easy access to these places make this an ideal place to camp for the primitive tent or van camper. Directions to Campsites: From Alpine TX (Blue Waters Natural Foods) take Rt. 118 South 61 miles, and turn LEFT on the Ranch Rd. (there will be a big white and yellow sign on the LEFT that says Terlingua Ranch: a storage unit facility, and a row of mailboxes). Go 2. 5 miles and turn RIGHT on 2.5 mile dirt rd. (marked w/ 2.5). Go 0.7 miles and turn RIGHT on Ruby Rd. Campsites are up about 900 feet on the LEFT and are marked with their numbers starting with #1, 2, 3, and 4. Learn more about this land: Flat campsites with creosote bushes and ocotillo plants surrounded by hills and mesas, campsites are along the left side of the road near our sustainable house building project; all campsites have a fire pit and there is an outhouse located near the road. the sites are located 20 miles North of Big Bend National Park entrance at Study Butte, and 13 miles West of the Terlingua Ranch Lodge which has the Bad Rabbit cafe, 24/7 bathrooms and showers, and a laundry facility.

Camel Hump Campsites
Worth it
We found online in fort stockton. Pull in late. Fire pit ready, fire wood everywhere. Drop in on fajitas over fire. Next morning wake up to a magnificent view. Super quiet. Jan 25th, 32 degrees at night. Beautiful sunrise sunset. climbed a hill. Worth it.

Secluded and quiet!!!
Loved our stay! We were looking for secluded and it was definitely secluded. Nice and clean area for our tent. Outhouse was clean. I had asked to buy firewood and the host left it out for us to pickup.

Camel Hump Campsites
Great location and views, DUST/WIND
Good location only a short drive from Terlingua and the park entrance. Awesome scenery and a good sized campsite with a great fire pit. It is in the desert so expect it to be fairly windy, our last night there was VERY windy (good thing we were in the tent). The campsites are also very dusty/sandy, which is fine until combined with the wind, making for difficult cooking and sandy sleeping bags. All in all a solid campsite.
