Recommended items to bring with you:
-Kindling and firewood: We provide a small amount of dry wood for starting a fire in the wood burning stove to heat the tiny house, but we recommend bringing dry wood for the outdoor fire pit (or see what you can pick up around the property)!
-Extra blankets, sleeping bag, and warm clothes: if you are someone who runs cold or does not want to wake up in the night to re-stoke the wood burning stove then bring extra gear! It can get cold, especially in the winter.

I loved my stay in Colin and Taryn's Cedar Shack! Their land is absolutely beautiful. The fall colors were really showing out there.
GPS and the hosts' directions accurately guided me to the property. You do drive a ways through the woods until you can see the tiny house up a hill and to the right. I did not meet the hosts, but they were communicative through texts. I suggest providing a guidebook for details and amenities of the shack, just to make sure us campers respect the property.
The Cedar Shack is aesthetically designed and spacious for a tiny house. It looked like someone put great thought and care into building the shack. I loved the the mini wood fired stove with wood provided. The stove kept the shack perfectly warm. I did not cook with the propane powered stove/oven inside, but it's great to have the option! Another bonus is the shack being dog friendly for those adventurous pups.
Electricity is not hooked up to the shack. A lantern is provided, but it may be good to bring extra lighting. The bed was very comfortable, though I do suggest some one sleeping there to have strong upper body strength to pull themselves up to the bed. It's high up and didn't have a ladder available. A couple of bars are there to hold on to, but I feel a ladder would be a better option to the bed.
I really enjoyed staying at the Cedar Shack and I would love to come back again. There is plenty of room outside the Cedar Shack to have a group camp as well.
Protip: While in White Salmon, stop in to Everybody's Brewing! Also, I had a delicious smoothie and biscuits and gravy at the North Shore Cafe. I highly recommend checking them out.
We arrived a little later than we had expected but directions were spot on and found the space easily. The "shack" is so cute! It has basic cooking supplies and a propane stove/oven if you are going to cook. We had to fiddle with the propane tank a little to get the stovetop going. Not sure if it was running low or what. Bed is super comfy. We brought our sleeping bags and slept on top of the bed and were toasty warm. Make your way down to the bench (just down the hill) for your morning coffee. Beautiful mountain views! We'll definitely be back.
Very well thought out and constructed mini cabin in a great location. We spent our Thanksgiving off the grid with our two boys at the site and loved it. The clouds cleared on our last morning and we woke up to Mt. Adams right out the front door. We spent some time in White Salmon and checked out some of the spots recommended by Colin and Taryn. What a great weekend away. Thanks.
Awesome get-a-way near white salmon
The Cedar Shack exceeded our expectations. Private and secluded, yet close enough to town to quickly grab food/supplies. Bed was extremely comfortable. View of Mt Hood was spectacular. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast. Loved the thoughtful touches like hand-drawn map, ample sources of light, and extra firewood for kindling. Will be back for sure.
Cozy, quaint, simple.
The Cedar Shack was absolutely adorable! Beautifully built and extremely cozy. The small space forced us to take our time and move slow. The shack had so many little amenities to use - coffee maker, grinder, cutting board, water, plates, etc. The view was beautiful and we were able to go xc skiing right from the property (we were lucky enough to stay in the snow)!
One of my favorite elements of this location was how secluded you are. The view of Mt Adams from the loft/property is incredible. We also enjoyed checking out the great breweries in both Hood River and White Salmon.
I'd definitely stay here again and would suggest it to anyone looking for some quality downtime in a beautiful place.
Perfect little getaway
The Cedar Shack is AMAZING!!!! So well built and put together I would have stayed for a month! We had such a lovely weekend getaway here and enjoyed ourselves so much. We would come back in a heartbeat. So comfortable and so visually pleasing, inside and out. Thank you both!!
Whimsical, magical, restorative
I had such an amazing stay in this tiny home! Well-decorated interior and homey feel, as well as lots of privacy and nature to yourself. There’s a bench with a straight shot of the mountain and all the trees and it was truly a nature lover’s paradise. Would recommend 10/10. Very therapeutic and restorative, as well as close enough to city to go charge phone and what not.
