The vibe at The Arboretum
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Whether you're roadtripping through Washington or looking to explore Mount Rainier National Park, The Arboretum at Bear Canyon West is the perfect stop. Situated in the heart of the Burres' expansive Christmas Tree Farm, the Arboretum is full of diverse plant and bird life, making for a peaceful and private meadow to set up camp. A picnic table, fire ring, cooking grate, and pile of firewood is included. Beautiful views of the mountains and river abound, and the camp host Barb was able to give us plenty of ideas for hikes and recreation in the area. When the sun went down we were treated to clear starry skies with hardly any light pollution to go along with the birds' songs. Can't wait to come back in the summer to explore Mount Rainier and swim in Riffe Lake! Thanks to Barb for the awesome stay. PS: if you have a drone, bring it! Barb is excited about making the farm extra drone-friendly.
A truly lovely, peaceful spot. The RV spots are well maintained and relatively level - walking around barefoot was no problem! The area is quiet (minus some noisy neighborhood roosters). The trees, mountain views and stars at night were awe-inspiring. Truly! The owners were friendly and thoughtful.
We had a great experience camping at the Arboretum! Our hosts were very kind and welcoming and showed us to the site when we arrived. It's a nice large private area with a fire pit, picnic table and plenty of firewood. There is also a trail on the property down to a beautiful river which we greatly enjoyed!! The first day we went to hike in Mount Rainer National Park, which was just 35 minutes drive away. The second day we decided to stay at the arboretum and hike down to the river so we could experience the outdoors without crowds or tourists. Would definitely recommend!
Our group (2 RVs and one tent) had a fabulous stay at The Arboretum over Memorial Day weekend. Barb & Terry are wonderful hosts and provided directions before we arrived. The Arboretum is located in a Christmas tree farm and the hosts have cleared out three lovely campsites among the trees. Our group all fit in to one site with a great fire pit, picnic table and seemingly endless supply of free fire wood! It's a beautiful, relaxing spot with acres to explore or if you prefer, just hang out by the campfire. I highly recommend a visit to the Arboretum and we are already planning a return trip!
The Arboretum is incredible! Secluded, lot of space for the site itself and the farm is very spacious. Walking trails, river and mountain views, firewood and grill grate, this place has it all (minus a bathroom, heads up!). We easily fit three tents with plenty of extra space. Thank you Barb & Terry for the best camping spot we've found!
This was our first hipcamp experience and we loved it. Owners were friendly. Campsites have good privacy; 3 total. There were other campers there at the same time as us and we weren't really aware of them which was great. Please note that "self contained", for the purposes of this place, means "you are in a vehicle that has a bathroom." "Self contained" does not mean "tent." Owner states that very clearly in the listing but people seem to have trouble understanding it.
