This campsite is quite secluded and peaceful. Please observe the rules that are intended to keep it pristine.

The property has a steep, short gravel driveway that is only accessible with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. If you a coming with a 2 wheel drive there is plenty of room on the county road to park and walk the 300' down to the campsite (let me know and I'll provide a wheelbarrow), though it might prevent bringing the kitchen sink.

A locked cabin (work in progress) has a large covered porch overlooking the Coweeman River that is available for campers, complete with chairs and picnic table. The camp has a pit toilet and it only handles poop and pee. There is a waste can provided for toilet paper to lengthen the life of the outhouse. If this concept makes you uncomfortable please choose another Hipcamp site. There is a small fire ring and firewood available for $5 a box. If you bring your own wood keep maximum length to 20" to keep fire/ash within ring. Glass (bottles or glasses) are not permitted at the riverbank as the risk of broken glass on bare feet is not worth the risk.

Firearms and shooting are not allowed at our campsite, nor are fireworks. The country road follows the river and is a wonderful 'trail' for bikes and hikes. Weyerhaeuser Timber Company owns the the vast tree farm in this area and requires a permit to access their land but I hike there (accessed just across the road) frequently and never see anyone.

The river runs clean and pristine. Though not deep enough for swimming, it provides for a refreshing dip on a hot summer's day. It can be used for washing and bathing, and could be filtered/treated for drinking. There is no other water source on the lot. Caution: The river rocks are slick. Use care when walking on wet rocks! Flotation vests are strongly recommended for kiddos.

Disregard Hipcamp's statement that the camp is close to Seaquest State Park and Paradise Point State Park........they are both about 40 minutes away.

The setting is most private, the river lovely. This setting is wonderful for a quiet family getaway in the woods; it is not 'party' appropriate.

Non digging, well mannered dogs are welcome (maximum 2) as long as their responsible owners clean up after them.

Clarification on pricing. The base fee ($40 or $50/holiday) is for 4 people. Additional guests are $5 per night, maximum 8 campers total.

Regarding Covid-19 physical distancing: I trust you'll only use this site for sharing with your tight social circle. Bring your own hand sanitizer please.

Two humans and two dogs had a great time at Bary’s Hipcamp! Sleeping with the whoosh of the river and the sound of frogs in the background was magical. We had a large owl and a bald eagle come visit near us during our stay too, which was wonderful.

You can’t beat the rustic quality of camping combined with the luxury of a shady, covered porch. We spent hours and hours reading on that porch.

The instructions to arrive were perfect! It’s not a road I would want to drive at night, but during the day it was easy to navigate and find the campsite. Bary was very helpful and friendly in giving us a brief tour when we arrived. We are already planning park return visit!

I hesitate to say how amazing this place is because I want to book again as many times as possible - but it is a true gem and should be shared.
The site is very well maintained and lots of space to roam around and a big spacious deck overlooking the river. I also want to give extra credit for the nicest camp toilet ever - not sure the trick that made it so but it was a very noticeable difference from the norm. It was delightful to meet Bary and he was prompt with communication and making sure our needs were met - It was an all around joyful experience and I would 100% recommend booking this spot.

This place was even better than we expected! We loved hanging out on the porch watching the rain and the river. Went on a nice hike and enjoyed being away from it all in a lush forest. Bary was wonderful and there was plenty of firewood and we had a lovely time.

We had a fantastic time staying at Barys place! He was a fantastic host! He gave very clear instructions on how to find the place, had a fire going, left us a bit of water, provided chairs, tables and lanterns. Having the porch of the cabin to use came in handy while it rained! The rocks down at the river are slick, so heed his advise! We had plenty of room for 4 adults, 4 kids, 2 dogs and 2 large tents! It was so peaceful and quiet, and the sound of the river drown out all other noises. We felt very safe, and it was a great place for kids and dogs. We found lots of snails, crawdads, caterpillar’s, and observed lots of birds. It was seriously the best camping trip we have had, and we can’t wait to go back! A HUGE thank you to Bary for being an awesome host and having such an amazing place!

Bary's secluded wooded lot was fantastic! It had everything our little family needed for a great camping experience. We had 2 dogs, 2 kids ( 3 & 1 yrs old) and my husband and I. We also had a Huge 16 person tent that fit perfectly on the lawn on one side of the cabin on the lot. The covered porch was lovely overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a table. Bary even put up smaller railing covers so our young kids would not fall off the deck for safety.
You can purchase wood from Bary which is convenient. We brought our own. It needs to be less then a 1.5 feet long though to fit in the smaller firepit. Theres a picnic table by the firepit for meals.
The pit toilet was clean and had plenty of natural light. Trash and recycling cans provided.
The waterfront was great. We really enjoyed playing in the water. As Bary notes at arrival the rocks are slippery! Have good traction water shoes and try to walk across the river through a few gravel spots. There are some nice gravel sandy spots with shallow slow water for little ones.
Secluded, peaceful and beautiful location to camp. We hope to make this a yearly family camping spot.
