We are a bit mixed on this campsite. We had plenty of space, but it was very near another campsite, but they were very respectful and went to bed during quiet hours. In addition, their dining hall wasn’t open even though they stated it was on the post and in their welcome message. They also didn’t have tubing, canoeing, or kayaking, despite what their message and post said. They said it had to do with the storm that came through. I didn’t totally understand though. There was also poison ivy EVERYWHERE. We’ve never seen so much poison ivy ever. I understand there’s little they can do to mitigate that, but just a forewarning. They did have firewood and ice for sale, which was nice to have nearby. We played in the creek a few times, but there was only one opening to the creek besides having to bush wack (through more poison ivy). They also have overnight hiking and canoeing trips for kids, which I think is more of a focus of their lodge.

The Meadow 11 - Open Meadow
Lovely place among the Virginia mountains. Nice large camp sites. Beautiful creek to play in. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Not great:
1. Was not given the option to select my campsite. I was assigned to campsite #13 on the map that was left taped to the info board. I found #13, directly behind two johnny blues. Not willing to set up camp 20 feet from them, I found an employee to help. He found my site, not marked with the number. It was mislabeled with a ‘C’.
2. The site ground was torn up from a heavy duty vehicle there before me. The ground must’ve been soft because the entire campsite had double tire ruts all through it, surrounding the fire pit. They hardened leaving little option on where to put the tent. We had to move the picnic table to a flatter area in the shade to be able to use it.
3. Signs posted stating ‘quiet hours’, but I guess that either didn’t apply to the people in the campsite behind us who arrived after midnight, or they were too drunk to see the sign when they pulled in.
4. Apparently ‘The Lodge’ main house (entertainment, food, etc.) is for lodge guests only and not for campers. I wish the site would’ve mentioned that.
5. Blink and you’ll miss where to get fresh water from the pump near the bath house.
6. I prepaid for tubing for three people. One person was ill and didn’t come camping with us. There was no offer for a refund for the one tuber. The map we were given stated tubing was available from 10 am - 5 pm, but there were no instructions regarding reservations. Camp staff was helpful and very polite in dropping us off. We left after one night.

Shady Cabin
Cabin camping at this little slice of heaven was everything I was looking for. Everyone working there and staying there were all kind and down to earth. They are pet friendly, reasonably priced, and just good people... What more could you ask for?
The property is huge with lots of options for adventure (kayaking, tubing, and canoeing) as well as some hiking paths. The pups and I will most certainly be back!

Very clean place. Nice bathhouse, stocked. Nice trails. Unfortunately didn’t get to do any of the other activities offered. Was a little disappointed the store was closed despite checking twice within their “normal” hours. Would return here again though & hopefully get to try some of the other outdoor activities offered

Went for a peaceful weekend only to be blindsided by a party of close to 100 people and blasting music and people walking through our campsite all night for 3 nights. Tried to switch campsites and received no response.

It was a beautiful weekend while there so the stars made up for any inconvenience. Felt safe. Pretty easy to find. Clean Porta potties, A lot of younger campers staying beside me but was very respectful during quiet time. I was there by myself that weekend and was a little disappointed that my prepaid fire wood wasn't at the campsite as stated. The store was closed so I couldn't find anyone to assist. I did find the snack bar but was closed from 2-6pm or something of that nature so I showed up hungry (my own fault) so no food, no store and no fire wood. No service so I couldn't anyone to help. I was prepared to just spend a little extra for the ease of the trip as far as snacks and wood. I should have known it was a little too good to be true. I also had no picnic table at my site #5. So overall ehhhhh. Sorry. I really wanted it to be a better experience. MP

The tent site was really nice and quiet with deer and fireflies buzzing around. We didn’t get to try it but they even have rentals and a restaurant on the weekends. The bathrooms were nice. We love the nearby mountains and towns. Defiantly look forward to coming back if the opportunity shows up.

I personally loved this place. If you realize it is a big multi-use space and may be filled with other people and activities, it is great ! The first night I was there, it was mostly entirely empty. The second night there were many kids and frisbee golfers, which I found fun. The bathrooms are great. The sites are sort of spacious. The hiking from the land was really fun. The pond was beautiful, the river across the street was lovely. There's no service but there is wifi near the main lodge. I chatted with someone working there and he was very helpful, kind, and friendly.

The campground is located high in the mountains. It was to isolated for my taste. Scott was informative with the surrounding area around the camp.
I would like to make a suggestion that the camp invest in building ; .a male/female restroom..shower rooms. Does not have to be fancy but functional. I was not happy with the porta John , as the only option for a bathroom.

This is a cute little place. Quite and very peaceful. Will definitely keep it saved if we’re back in the area. We got in around 2am and just drove straight to our spot with our trailer. Bathrooms were easy to find and showers were nice. little warning tho, my friend and I came from opposite directions and both lost service 8mins before arriving and didn’t have any service when we were there

My friend and I stayed in a room in the main lodge and had a great stay! The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. If you're looking for a 5-star hotel, this isn't it. But if you're looking for outdoor activities, shower with good water pressure and hot water (always a miracle with camp facilities), and air conditioning in a rustic setting, this is the spot! After getting back from our McAfee Knob hike, we did a wonderfully relaxing tube ride down the river. The water was low in places but was crystal clear the entire float. A nice little piece of camping paradise.

Pros:
* Campsite was easy to access
* Showers and restrooms were above expectations
* Adult and kid beverages available but expensive
* Fun activities for everyone
* Food if you just dont want to cook that day
Cons:
* No cell signal (a pro to me)
* Staff is sparse but helpful when you find them (again kind of pro to me)
* Communal camping (folks camp in some unusual places, like in the middle of the walking path). This is not a slight to the campground just more guidance on where you probably should not camp.
Summary:
We enjoyed the cedars campsite at Wilderness Adventure. It was simple to get to but took us a few seconds to identify where we were supposed to go to get to the actual site. A member of our party asked a staff member (after we already found it they just did not know) and was kind enough to point it out.
The site was good for two large 10x14 tents and two large trucks. We did park the trucks sort of 'outside' the entrance to the cedars site to give us a bit more privacy from the other campers and also provided more space within the cedars area for the children to run around.
You must go to the main lodge and fight to get onto the wifi to get access. Otherwise it took us about 10 minutes outside the campground to find signal. Highly recommend downloading offline maps. The showers and bathroom were above expectations. I also enjoyed the fact we could get breakfast outside at the lodge area along with some adult and children beverages.

Very nice facility and super friendly staff. Nice place to escape to the wilderness. Really enjoyed floating Craig Creek and exploring the property’s hiking trails. Family friendly place. Will be back!

That camp site was under shed and we decided to switch for number 9. This camp site was amazing... big, clean, net. No water point close but just 1 minute walk. Campground is fantastic. Bathroom super clean. Towels available in the bathroom. Charming, calm. Nice walks around the campground. You also can rent kayak, canoe.. River is across the campground.
