Relax in virginia wine country
Victoria and her family were gracious hosts. She made sure the site met our expectations and provided recommendations on things to do in the area. The second night, we had a chance to visit with the rest of her family - they were very friendly and hospitable.
The site was reasonably isolated from view of houses. It consisted of a mowed extension of an open mowed area where they appeared to do some target shooting. There was shade and protection from the surrounding for one or two tents plus plenty of room for a table and couple of cars. They included a fire ring and wood for camp fires. There was a dirt road that ran within earshot but there was minimal traffic on it.
They have chickens and dogs which we could hear in the distance but we were glad they had both. The dogs kept the bears at a distance (Shenandoah valley has black bears) and we bought a dozen farm fresh eggs for an extra $5. They have peacocks too. We could hear the animals throughout our stay but they were no louder than the birds or the crickets that were quite abundant. We only saw one tick while we were there and were told Lyme disease is generally not a problem there.
Overall, we were very satisfied with this first-time hipcamp experience.
Beautiful flat and spacious spot !
Peaceful and private! This beautiful and flat wooden oasis was a welcomed weekend stay. We stayed for two nights and had a great stay. The space accommodates several guests, has lots of space to spread out and was easy to find. Victoria was such a gracious and thoughtful host and made sure we had everything we needed. This spot is about 40 minutes from Front Royal so we did the commercial tubing options, but is a great option if you have your own tubes or river gear. I hope to come back enjoy this chill space!!
Great second visit!
We came back to this lovely spot and can’t wait to come back again. It’s private, clear and a lovely spot. We love how quiet it is, and the site is well stocked with a cooking grate, wood, a table and trash can. The host Victoria was wonderful! She let us meet her peacocks and was warm and thoughtful. This spot is highly recommended:)
The camp site was as expected from the pictures! Very private and secluded! Victoria made sure we were provided with everything we needed!!! Thank you again!! We definitely recommend this camp site to anyone!
Victoria's campsite was spacious and very well maintained! The site itself was very large (it used to be a shooting range) so we were able to spread out a bit. We parked the car and the bikes near the fire pit area and set up our tents in the larger clearing. There was a plank bench and small table near the fire pit, and there were plenty of branches and brush in the surrounding area to use as firewood. (We brought some just in case.) We could occasionally hear her chickens in the distance and her dogs sometimes barked (in the middle of the night) to keep the predators away, but the barking didn't bother us. The booking also included an option to purchase eggs from her chickens, which we were excited about. Victoria was a gracious host - kind, personable, and helpful. She made special accommodations for us to pick up the eggs so our kids could meet the chickens, and she even let my son hold one. Both kids enjoyed the chicken "meet and greet" while my wife and I enjoyed talking to Victoria. Her property is just a short drive from the Shenandoah River, Bear Chase Brewery, and only 20 minutes from Purcellville (we enjoyed a nice ride on the W & OD Trail). We enjoyed our stay at Victoria's Land and would highly recommend it!
Victoria’s site was spacious and well-maintained! Tons of space to spread out - more than a typical campground site. Everything - including the chickens and dogs who bark at night - was as advertised and wonderful. (And even though the dogs sometimes barked at night they didn’t bother us.) She was gracious enough to let us come meet her chickens and let my son hold one. Both my kids enjoyed running around the chicken yard while my wife and I talked to Victoria. She was personable and helpful and the campsite was great. We’d definitely recommend it!
So beautiful and so peaceful!!!
This was such a beautiful and peaceful place to camp! We absolutely LOVED our stay and the site.
When we needed help with our campfire, Victoria replied super quickly and was on top of everything!
We are already planning our next trip out!!!
Peaceful Hollow was exactly that - peaceful. Private and safe, clean and open. Perfect spot for a getaway. All the sounds of nature surround you with the occasional sound from the farm - rooster crowing, dogs barking wafting in. The site is open enough to stare at the stars at night and be in the sun during the day. I would recommend it to anyone.
