Turner mountain was absolutely beautiful! My boyfriend and I went for a little getaway and this site was the perfect location. We stayed one night and it was very private until the evening when someone showed up unexpectedly. He said he was there to use his telescope and look at the stars and that the owner let them use this spot, he then set up his telescope RIGHT behind our chairs.. it made us quite uncomfortable to have a stranger standing right behind us interrupting our evening. He showed up around 8pm and stayed stayed until after 2am - so much for privacy! We were never told that our stay would include a surprise visitor. Aside from the lack of privacy, the place was great. Just be wary that you may not be alone.
We want to tell everyone and no one about this place because it was so beautiful, calming and fun. You feel tucked away at your own private campsite. Also, Turner mountain is only 40 min from DC—a great quick getaway for us. Charles was an awesome host! We are definitely coming back :)
I didn’t have any interaction with the host but the spot was nice with big views and although I didn’t use the grill it did look clean. Grass was uncut tho and close to knee height. It was wet that day so the grass being cut would’ve been nice. Other than that it’s a nice spot
