Great spot, incredible hosts
What a cute little spot! Dean and his wife were incredible hosts and really made us feel at home. The spot itself is so calm and peaceful and made for a great mountain getaway.
Fantastic campsite by the creek
I highly recommend staying at The Country! Their campsites are flanked by Johns Creek on one side and hay fields on the other which makes for s beautiful setting and the perfect mix of shade and sun. We woke up every morning to the sound of the creek and flocks of song birds passing through. The campsites are far enough apart that you have privacy but close enough that you can easy walk between them if you book multiple sites with a group.
Dean was an exceptional host who made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We was very responsive and was super helpful when our dog wasn't feeling well. I highly recommend The Country and will definitely be visiting again soon!
This was one of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at. It was a hidden gem! We camp a lot and this blew our minds. Already planning next trip. The wild life, views, privacy and creek were amazing.
Idyllic family fun
In a word: idyllic.
This is a private campsite in a beautiful setting. It was shaded nearly all day, but with sunshine close by for warming up after a swim. The water was just the right depth and temperature for our young kids and puppy to play in, and since we had our own RV the small camper was used as a fun play spot for the kids. The walking trails Dean made in the fields were fun for exploring the beautiful property.
Dean was a great host. We recommend his place wholeheartedly, and our family will be telling friends about it and going back.
(Tip: As is common in Virginia in warm weather, you will want to bring mosquito repellent if it has recently rained.)
A magical spot to unwind
Our stay was simply fantastic. The Abbotts are wonderful and made sure that everything was ready for our stay. We particularly loved being in the shade and having the creek to play in. If you're able to go, we highly recommend exploring the waterfall across the creek (with caution, of course). It was stunning. Our kids loved rearranging the rocks and mastering skipping rocks. All in all, it was wonderful!
Secluded in the country
After meeting the host, we were guided a tour of the lands showing us to our site. The tiny house campsite was nestled deep in the 500+ acres of fields, with John's Creek running alongside. The soothing sounds of the flowing water and the magical fireflies lulled us into a state of zen. We hope to visit again soon!
Even more beautiful than you think
Very secluded. Very beautiful. The hosts care a lot about guests having a good experience -- they went out of their way to introduce us to their farm -- which in the end meant that we stayed at a different spot, not the tiny house one. The tiny house camper is cute as hell. But we opted to camp in a space where the creek water level was a little higher because we wanted to be able to wade in waist to shoulder high. If you enjoy feeling close to nature and can distance yourself relatively easily from amenities such as flush toilets and electricity, this is a wonderful, wonderful place to go. We went in the summer, and I'd say the pictures don't quite do the property justice. It's even prettier than depicted. Diverse in the visuals and experiences it offers. Each of the camp sites on the farm offers something unique. I'd recommend calling the host and seeing what they have available given your preferences. I'm going to look out for/ create opportunities to go back!
We loved camping at the Tiny House site at The County! The hosts were very welcoming and the campsite was so beautiful. The sound of the flowing creek, the view of the mountains, the beautiful sunsets and complete solitude were just what we needed. We would love to return!
