The land was marched across by Civil War soldiers on ther way to Gettysburg. They were on their way from Brandy Station to cross the Rappahannock River at Kelly's Ford. Much later there were horses in the fields, a well and spring were hand dug, a pond created and slowly buildings were built and expanded, but no barns as it was not really farmed. This meant no chemicals have been used on the land for over 60 years and perhaps ever. The plan is to keep it organic, but do something with it. Ideas are welcome. Relic hunters have found confederate bullets, a belt buckle and an early 1900 Ford logo. Fresh eggs and seasonal vegetables maybe available. Indoor games, frisbees, and horseshoes as well as paper for fire starting in the bathhouse. World Away Farm camper, no electric
Was pretty wet and soft the ground, wouldn't consider it "primitive or private" as it states.

My wife and I had a great experience tent camping on Katherine’s land. It was just private enough to feel unbothered but close enough to Katherine’s house and some other campers to not feel isolated. Katherine welcomed us when we arrived to help us with our questions and then left us alone the rest of our visit.

We loved camping here! It was so quite and private. Plus we loved how sweet our host was with our kiddos. Horses and chickens were a big plus! Very, very lovely.

The place was fine, except that our reservation said, "You’ll meet and greet with the Host upon arrival." When we arrived no one was there to greet us, so I didn't quite know where to go on the property. I called the owner and she was away for the weekend, but she explained over the phone where the bathroom and woodpile to rummage through were. We're experienced campers so we managed, even though most of the wood was much too big to be used for a campfire. Aside from that, I would never expect a campsite to double as an outdoor gun range so it's a detail I missed when I made the reservation. There were people there shooting guns pretty close to our site and it was very loud, so we left and came back later. Overall, we had a good weekend. The field campsite we were in was nice and dark for stargazing. The bathroom toilets were pretty clean. We fortunately didn't have to lug rocks to our campsite because there was a fire pit already there.
