Delightful weekend on the river
Our host, Cameron was available for questions and was very helpful helping us set up a rafting boat launch up the river. We would definitely return to this site. Great experience! We were a group of three families made up of 6 adults and 5 kids.
It was a pleasure to be hosted by Mr. Crounse! Place is very clean, there is abundance of firewood. Sound of river is amazing.. You can also swim if you want, because the river is easily accessible. My friend also caught 3 small fishes..
One more thing that I personally liked is absence of insects. The big plus is that you can park your cars right next to little wooden fence and don’t walk too far if you need anything.
Overall it was a good experience!! 🙏🏻
We had a great time camping a Rockfish River Landing. There was plenty of space to setup our tents along the river. I didn't realize how close we were to the road which stays pretty busy with cars and trucks so it was little noisy at times, but we were able to setup in a semi secluded area which at least kept visibility to a minimal. Kayaking the river was tons of fun and we caught a few Bass and Sunnies. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, surprisingly there were very few mosquitos. There is plenty of wood to collect for fires so no need to bring any. I would definitely stay here again.
Great little camping spot right along the river. You are not far off the road but the occasional passing car didnt bother me, still very quiet. Plenty of wood to scavenge for a campfire. I didn't require much else. The sound of the river at night was a plus.
We had a fantastic weekend with the kiddos here. Great spot, good river access. Private space, without feeling isolated. The weekend “traffic” was noticeable sometimes, but the river and frogs sounds covered most of it up. The chairs and fire ring were an unexpected bonus. The kids liked jumping in up river and floating down to camp. Cameron was easy to talk to and very helpful. We will be back!
Great river adjacent location
Great site, welcoming host, safe environment for kids to play riverside. Very much appreciated that the grass was mowed and well cared for. Plenty of choice for tent sites. I suggest bringing a cord of wood for a longer fire; there is more kindling/starter wood on site than you could ever need.
The site is adjacent to a country road, so there are occasional vehicles going by, and thus it is not extremely remote. There is enough foliage that our group did not notice this too much.
Of the two camp sites, one is much more private.
Memorial day camping
We went here over Memorial Day weekend and had a blast. It was 3 couples and some rowdy preschoolers and everyone had a good time wading, floating, and kayaking. The site is primitive in a good way, but close to a local road with lots of locals accessing the river nearby during the day, so it's not that secluded. Cameron was great, very helpful in giving us the lay of the land (or water, as it may be). There was a picnic table, a couple plastic lawn chairs and a poop bucket, which we didn't expect, but was much appreciated. We're all looking forward to coming back soon.
