Pitch your tent or park your small camper right next to the beautiful and peaceful Rockfish River. Fantastic put-in for a leisurely float, canoe or kayak, or depending on the time of year, several family friendly rapids 3-5 hours trip to the confluence of the Rockfish and James rivers, which is only 4 miles or 8 minutes by car to the public boat landing on the James River. The vibe at Rockfish River Landing

It was a pleasure to be hosted by Mr. Crounse! Place is very clean, there is abundance of firewood. Sound of river is amazing.. You can also swim if you want, because the river is easily accessible. My friend also caught 3 small fishes..
One more thing that I personally liked is absence of insects. The big plus is that you can park your cars right next to little wooden fence and don’t walk too far if you need anything.
Overall it was a good experience!! 🙏🏻
We had a great time camping a Rockfish River Landing. There was plenty of space to setup our tents along the river. I didn't realize how close we were to the road which stays pretty busy with cars and trucks so it was little noisy at times, but we were able to setup in a semi secluded area which at least kept visibility to a minimal. Kayaking the river was tons of fun and we caught a few Bass and Sunnies. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, surprisingly there were very few mosquitos. There is plenty of wood to collect for fires so no need to bring any. I would definitely stay here again.
