Purchase clean, fresh eggs from our free-range chickens for your camp breakfast,  For a high-end dinner buy one of our farm raised rabbits to roast over your campfire supplied with FREE firewood.  Enjoy your meals while watching our horses graze in the adjoining pasture

After a great meal of farm raised products, step off the property into the George Washington National Forest to hike along the many trails or head over to Bryce Four Season Resort (only 4 miles away) for a full day of fun golfing, grass skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, zip lines, snow skiing, snow boarding, tubing and many other activities. In addition, Lake Laura is also just 3 miles away for fishing, boating, hiking, beach and swimming. Shenandoah Valley Music Festival is just 4 miles away and offers a variety of outdoor concerts during the summer.  At the end of your day clean up with some of our farm made goat milk soaps in a variety of scents.

Rendezvous Farm is also within an hour of several caverns, two civil war battlefields, the Shenandoah Civil War Museum and the North and South Forks of the Shenandoah River. The Appalachian Trail is a half hour drive from the farm. This area has much more to offer. We have brochures for many other nearby attractions.  Feel free to inquire about what interests you.

PLEASE READ THIS PARAGRAPH CAREFULLY.  Your stay at Rendezvous Farm, a 16-acre working hobby farm bordering George Washington National Forest on 2 sides, offers you access to over 1 million acres of public land to play in. Site 1 is large enough to back in a medium sized RV or pop up camper. This  PRIMITIVE PLUS site is adjacent to the horse pasture and right off the main driveway. Parking is on site. We provide FREE firewood but require that all fires are completely extinguished before retiring for the evening or leaving our property. Five gallons of drinking water as well as water for drowning campfires is provided. Your site has new picnic table too.  Hiking trails begin just a few yards from the campsites! An excellent app to help you find the many public trails is ALLTRAILS.  We can direct you to short private trails near the campsite.  Our small run-off pond is part of our wildlife habitat so please no swimming. We have a nice bluegill population for catch and release only fishing for the kids.  All sites are close to our neighbor so we request quiet time from dark to dawn.  FOR YOUR SAFETY, THAT OF YOUR PETS AND OUR ANIMALS, PLEASE READ THE RULES AND SAFETY SECTION.

After finding a number of first-come, first-served sites full, we jumped on Hipcamp and found Rendesvous Farm not far away. Allen and Peggy were excellent hosts, and came by to greet us shortly after we arrived, even though the booking was last-minute. The sites were broad and well-isolated. We had plenty of space and privacy to enjoy our evening, even with two other campers occupying adjacent sites. The site is fairly basic -- a 5-gallon potable water jug that they were nice enough to refill for us after our evening wash-up, and a well-built stone fire ring to keep the fire contained. A stand for the jug might be helpful, so bring along a camping chair for washing and canteen filling if you can.
All sites are drive-up, so carrying gear is a non-issue. High-quality firewood was free and on-hand, and a small chemical toilet in a pop-up changing tent that was surprisingly clean occupied the center of the campground. We didn't expect cell service, but I had full bars, which made contacting the hosts and mapping out our next day of hiking a breeze.

The property has a lot of trails, and we did some light hiking through some hunting grounds and another path down a stream that led to a nearby local water station. The property links with the National Forest, so there is plenty to explore! Camping alongside the horse pasture offered a great view as well. We didn't visit the surrounding hikes, but a drive up a local mountain is said to offer some trails and great views.

As a note, make sure you're prepared to cross some well-worn dirt roads to reach the property. We didn't have much trouble in a minivan, but mud might find you asking for a tow and you might scrape the bottom of a low-slung car. If you're not used to country roads, drive slow and be prepared to pull over, and watch for other city-slickers making their way into the forest for the weekend.

Hey Anthony! Thanks for the great input! We are new to hipcamp and always growing and learning! We have picnic tables coming to the sites (we are picking them up tomorrow)...just had a little snag in getting them here earlier - as the state of Virginia opened up private campgrounds they also opened elective surgery and my husband was on schedule for a total knee replacement. We are definitely working on upgrading/growing. We placed some signs earlier today, but there are definitely more we need to get up. The national forest is at the edge of our property where our chicken coops you were right there. :) We also border the National Forest at the back of our property too. We're lucky! Two sides!
