Our stay at Piedmont farm was great! The land owner Susan was out of town, but Vincent, who helps run the farm, gave us a great welcoming. He provided us with fresh veggies for dinner and showed us around the property. Our stay at the Black Walnut Shelter was comfortable, private and clean. The outdoor kitchen near the garden was a great spot to hang out and the trails surrounding the property were perfect for short hikes around the farm. The outdoor shower is very secluded and the swimming pond, while cold, was very refreshing. I would absoloutley stay here again and would definitely recommend it!

Our visit was magical. We could not have asked for a more perfect campsite for the weekend. Located close to Front Royal it was an easy trip after tubing on the Shenandoah. Our communication with our host was clear, helpful and frequent which was a plus as it was my first time camping at this site.
There’s a beautiful garden next to the campsite and our host Vincent shared a bunch of fresh herbs and produce for our camp dinner. There’s a big pavilion where we all set up our cooking supplies and then cooked over a big camp fire with a cooking grate for ease. Luckily we had great weather but I could see this pavilion being a bonus of it had rained.
We felt tucked away in the camp site and felt safe and secluded in the woods. I can’t wait to book this place again, especially since it has AT access off the property.
We recommend this spot 100% and can’t wait to come back this fall! THANK YOU!

Susan's property was amazing. Vincent greeted us, explained the property, helped us carry some of our things, and made us feel super welcome. The property itself has great views, is well kept, and very close to local attractions like vineyards and hikes.
We had a fantastic fall weekend at Walnut Grove. Our two families (including three kids under age 10) had plenty of space to spread out, and the property is gorgeous and private. Vincent was a gracious host, and we learned a lot from him about the medicinal plant conservation efforts going on in the surrounding wilderness. The vegetable garden was an added bonus, along with clean outhouses, daily deliveries of fresh drinking water, and daily trash removal. We look forward to coming back! Thank you for sharing your land with us.
We enjoyed our time at Walnut Grove Farm. Our host Vincent was very helpful. There are two campsites. A smaller one is adjacent to the driveway where the outdoor "kitchen" (counter, wood-burning barbecue and sink) is located along with a small playground set with a fire pit and table/chairs. The site we stayed in is around the corner and down the hill which is bigger for more tents and where the privy and pavilion are located. The outdoor shower is located to a glorious vegetable garden between the two sites.
The site was beautiful and well-maintained. Even better than advertised! Vincent, our host, was already at our spot as we arrived to orient us and make sure we had everything we needed. He sent me messages ahead of time to ensure we found the place without confusion. We spent one night camping at Walnut Grove and had an amazing time; we were sad to leave, can’t wait to go back!
The place was lovely and looked exactly like the website. The owners were so gracious even letting us pick fresh strawberries. They saw to our every need including texting a map and letting us tour their other rentals on the same giant property (the Treehouse looks amazing!). The kids loved the farm dogs and seeing some of the goats and peacocks. This was our first HipCamp experience and now we are hooked. We would definitely return.
We were looking for a quick and private getaway and this was ideal. Susan was very responsive and Vincent was super helpful when we arrived. The property is beautiful and has great access to hikes nearby, including a really nice lookout. Thanks so much for a great stay!
We stayed at the Walnut Grove campsite and had a great experience! Vincent met us when we arrived and was very accommodating our entire trip. The campsite is very secluded and a short walk to the bathroom and just a walk up a hill to the shower. The farm is beautiful and has many places to hike and explore. Overall it was a great getaway, and we will be back!
