Great secluded, safe camp site. Super nice landowner introduced himself and gave us fishing tips (Smallmouth, Catfish for us) and even lent us a lure! Plenty of dead wood around. Bring bug spray as it is right by the water. We will be back soon! Host (VA Outdoors) answered questions quickly and was very helpful.

Absolutely sold gold experience! We made our way to site based on the directions. Our host popped in to welcome us and politely remind us to bury our poop. The site on the water, partly forested and partly on the beach. There's plenty of wildlife and beautiful vegetation. The fishing was good. The sunset was spectacular. The river was moving a bit to quickly for us to try paddling against the current but wading and swimming was fun. A train did occasionally pass along the track above the opposite bank of the river, and the occasional jon boat passed; there is an outlet upstream that seems to be a popular fishing spot for a couple of the locals. All in all, we were undisturbed and never felt unsafe or intruded upon.
The perfect getaway!!!
This place is AMAZING!!! My husband and three children came for a family getaway and our expectations were exceeded over and over again. We had the best time, the best view and THE BEST HOST that we could possibly ask for. The directions brought us right to where we needed to be, the host met us there and welcomed us, we then settled in for our 3 day stay. The river is just feet away from our camp and it was great, the guys fished while us girls swam and just relaxed! I plan to come back very soon :)
The pictures do not do this place justice! It is absolutely spectacular! If you are considering booking, definitely do so!!
My family spent 4th of July weekend here. We were so surprised when we pulled up to the site and saw the breathtaking views of the James. There are so many shade trees perfect to pitch a tent under. The site is spacious and had plenty of room for our oversized tent, camp kitchen, tent porterjohn, and hammock!
Our 4 children loved swimming in the river and catching minnows! We waded out to the rocks in the middle of the river for some fishing. This part of the river was rather shallow and made for a perfect swimming hole for our kids!
We did bring our dogs along with us.. it was their 1st camping trip together! They loved running through the sand and jumping in the water. They were off leash the majority of the trip. There was the occasional passerby accessing the next site over.. so we did have to tether them to keep them from getting excited. But, they still had a blast also!
There was the occasional train that passed by on the other side of river, but we didn't find it bothersome... and the kids loved watching it!
The host was swell! He came down shortly after our arrival to greet us, and reminded us to dig catholes. He also complimented us on our pretty boxer dogs. He came down a 2nd time to give us a heads up that a group would be using the site adjacent for tubing, and to be sure we kept our dogs under control. We did appreciate the heads up, as dogs do tend to get excited around unfamiliar faces.
All in all, our family had an amazing weekend! We highly recommend this site!
This location is absolutely gorgeous! Only feet from the James River... sandy beach for wading & swimming, and great fishing! The site is absolutely private and very quiet (with the exception of the occasional freight train passing by on the other side of the river :- ) Mike and Jeni are absolutely wonderful hosts... very friendly and helpful. Eastend at Seven Islands is on the top of our list for many return visits!
Perfect spot for lazy summer fun
We were absolutely stunned by the beauty of the site. We set up camp right next to the James River and spent our days swimming, fishing, tubing, and sunbathing. Plenty of deadfall for hearty fires. Unbelievable views of river, sunsets, and stars. Host was friendly and totally unobtrusive. We did hear music from the folks at the other site, but they were a ways up river and the only time we set eyes on them was when they were out in the river fly-fishing. We usually backpack to camp, but the next time we're looking for a chill, relaxing weekend camp, this will definitely be our top choice!
A perfect summer evening!
We stayed at campsite #2 in our mini camper van and it was perfection. We had total privacy, the river was so easily accessible for us and our dogs. The nighttime sounds were incredible, we enjoyed our night here and are already planning to come back, likely multiple times! I am so grateful the property owners are willing to share a bit of their land, it's really beautiful.
