The perfect river side camp.
You will have look hard to find a better host or camp site. The place is beautiful right on the river with a huge space all to yourself. It is a perfect spot for camping, kayaking, fishing, or just sitting by the fire. Skip the over crowded campgrounds in the park....fo here.
Great site! Right on the river with a grill and firepit, very chill and easy to access. Also got to watch a lightning storm and fireflies which was awesome. Feels private and Michael was a great host—definitely recommend checking this place out!
A beautiful spot and a helpful host
A beautiful spot and Michael was a super responsive and helpful host! There was a slight mixup at booking and another couple had reserved the same spot within minutes of our booking, but the space was large enough that even with both of us there it was still private. Having the river right there was amazing, such a peaceful sound to sleep to. The river was low but deep enough for us to rinse off quick in the morning. We loved the beautiful rural location. We read that there was a fire pit and mistakenly assumed there would be firewood available as well, we didn’t travel with any as we were crossing state lines, but it wasn’t a problem we went to the grocery store 10 minutes down the street and got one of those firestarter logs. All in all, a gorgeous spot and a very helpful host... highly recommend!
Perfect riverside campsite!
This was my first time using Hipcamp and I couldn't have been happier with our campsite! Michael was a great host and super responsive. The campsite is in the corner of his property, away from the houses, and between the river and a pasture (with cows and very friendly donkeys). The only negative thing I can say is the site is somewhat close to the train tracks so you'll hear the occasional train horn blast but they pass quickly.
Michael was an exceptional host. He sent us very clear details on how to get to his camping spot. It was as promised, right on the river with easy access for fishing and exploring the river. It was a very peaceful, very special spot. Having a grill and fire pit provided was incredible.
Seclusion on the shenandoah
Fantastic and secluded setting down by the Shenandoah River. Idyllic. Just as described. Firewood was available along with a fire ring and table. I drove down to the site which is maybe 500-1000 feet from his driveway. But then for our excursions I parked on his driveway upon return. I’d say that’s his preference. I waited until the morning of departure to see if the grass would be dry before taking my vehicle down as there is a moderate slope coming back up I have an Explorer but not 4WD. It rained hard all night. So the exit plan involved four long walking trips with my son to portage our gear up and out. We don’t pack light. Big, heavy tent, etc. So not a negative per se but just a bit of reality.
But overall fantastic. No facilities as noted so plan accordingly. Town is only 5 minutes away. I don’t fish but it would seem ideal for that.
