Very close campsite to the McAfee Knob trailhead on the AT. The sites are like unpaved driveways near a homesite. It’s picturesque, but camp fires are not allowed at the actual campsites, only at a central fire pit near the home. That was an unwelcome surprise. Our site was perfect for a camper van, but a tent would have been swamped in the rain-water ran down and collected in tye center of the site.

Thanks so much for your visit! Campfires are not allowed in the campsites because of the Fire Marshall in Virginia. We are just following their rules! We are fortunate not to have a FIRE BAN/ Hope you will join us another time!

The site was good, my only complaint would be that it’s listed as campfires allowed, but the fire pit was in the hosts yard...took a little of the “magic” shall we say away when you have to sit in someone’s yard to roast mallows..but she was awesome otherwise and it was a great time.
