Camp on a 20 acre working horse farm and reconnect with nature. Located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and just 3 miles from the intersection of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trailhead and extensive year round hiking trails. The area is progressive with many organic farms, vineyards, eclective restaurants, and micro breweries - nationally acclaimed Blue Mountain Brewery is 2 miles away. In Nelson County - Wintergreen Ski Resort, Hike Nelson County, Crabtree Falls, Humpback Rocks and many more trails.

Our whole farm fosters a sense of connection with nature, deep restfulness and relaxation. There are several great spots to pitch your tent and all have fire pits. North Camp: is at the edge of a small meadow tucked up near the woods, South Camp is in open woods more privately situated.  Another option is to camp on or near the new Zen Deck.  Our beautiful new 10 x 12' deck is situated in a park-like area under mature hardwood canopy.

The Zen Deck is a wonderful spot to sit and look, think, meditate or share space with one or two of our horses. (Including the horses  is an "Extra" and needs to pre -arranged).  Yoga & Meditation Studio is a calming place to practice no matter the season or weather and just a short stroll from the barn and tent sites,.  Enter through the shade garden and be surrounded by lots of pretty Wood - poplar walls and maple floor.

Beautiful secluded location with grassy areas under shady trees. Host Gail is a wonderful, generous, caring host and made sure we had everything we needed - excellent communication and local information, too. Beautiful barn to shelter if needed; could not recommend this more highly.

Tent camping at Galleywinter is such a treat. It was our first hipcamp experience and still is the best, without question.
Gail is extremely friendly and her dog Tanner was very delightful. We even got to say hello to a few of the horses on the farm, particularly Filipe.
Staying here is a no-brainer if you are traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive in Shenandoah SP.

Camping at Galleywinter Farm was a great experience. Gail is a wonderful and very sweet host. She meets you when you arrive and shows you the 3 tent sites she has available. She shows you where the half bath in the house is located and where the hot and cold water faucets are outside the house. We chose the more remote site on the hill in the horse pasture which provided a view of the beautiful property. Her property is close to tons of trails and hiking (highly recommend the Three Ridges Wilderness trail if you’re in good shape). She’s also close to Waynesboro in case you want to pop into town for dinner (I recommend The Green Leaf Grill if you do go). Highly recommend Galleywinter Farm!

Staying at Galleywinter was a lovely experience. Gail provided me with a warm welcome and help when I needed it. I was attending a conference nearby and access to the half bath at the house made such a difference. The horses too were welcoming and it was wonderful to sleep out with them nearby.

Great spot! Gail was very welcoming - she gave us options of where to set up camp and made sure we felt very at home. The farm is beautiful and super close to Shenandoah National Park. We had a perfect night.

We had a great stay at Galleywinter! Our spot was well-secluded from others but with a lovely view of the farm's horses and a short walk to the bathroom. Gail was a great host and made us feel extremely welxomd. Galleywinter feels like a place full of kindness, and we hope to return in the future.
