Great private place to stay! Definitely would love to come back.
Spencer’s place was great!! It was the perfect getaway! Alongside the spot was a nice creek that provided some white noise at night! The directions were very accurate as well! I would highly recommend!
Excellent car camping location with plenty of space for 2 cars and tents, with Mill Creek babbling nearby. James was kind enough to set us up with some firewood and there's a gas station about 3 miles down the road if you've forgotten anything. The spot is very convenient for backpacking into Grayson Highlands-- we just walked up the hill to the end of Mill Creek road and were in the park! We were spotting ponies in no time. Awesome place to camp.
The Corner at Spencers' Highland is the *perfect* place to stay near Grayson Highlands State Park - about a 7-minute drive from the entrance.
The road up to the campsite is gravel and a little rutted in places from the creek breaching its banks, and the ground is soft getting into the campsite so I would recommend a higher clearance or 4WD vehicle.
I stayed the weekend in my skoolie and the campsite was luxuriously roomy! There is probably room for ~10 tents to set up and still not feel cramped. The site is surrounded by beautiful, towering pine trees, and Mill Creek runs just behind the clearing. Just a heads up, there is barbed wire around the edges of the campsite, and between the campsite and the stream, so watch your step!
James, the host, has a designated fire pit on the campsite and provides a hearty stack of firewood, which was great! I thoroughly enjoyed sitting near the fire and listening to the creek babbling in the distance.
I had a great weekend staying at The Corner at Spencers' Highland, and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in the area!
