The BEST campsite I've ever had! Backpackers, campers, families, overlanders, and big groups, look no further, this is the dream camp site you've been looking for! You know how when you plan vacations and you see pretty pictures, but when you get to the beach it looks nothing like the pictures? This is the opposite. It’s even better than the photos!
We had a fantastic stay at Steve's property. Steve greeted us at the entrance and showed us all around the property. This is an investment property for Steve and he has big plans for it, so don't be thrown off by the worn-down house in front. There is a beautiful barn in the restoration process, a small goat pen and tons of deer roaming the rolling hills. The property is a mile long and a half mile wide with many camping sites all over. There could be 100 people staying the night there and you'd still have total privacy in each site. Right in the middle there is a large pond that attracted many deer at dusk. The Shenandoah river runs right behind the property, and beyond that is thousands of acres of forever-wild land. It’s absolutely gorgeous, you’re gonna love it.
Steve had us follow him in my truck out to our spot, which was about a half mile off the road. Any 4 wheel drive would do fine and even a 2 wheel drive if the ground is firm. But you can also park at the front and walk out to your spot. Any big rigs could stay on the gravel road towards the front. There is a porta-potty (very clean!) right near the entrance as well as a water spigot. At our camp site Steve provided a picnic table, grill, garbage bin, dry wood, and a large fire circle. He made sure we were comfortable and offered access to the barn in case any crazy weather rolled in that night.
I highly recommend you stay here. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks again Steve!
