The BEST campsite I've ever had! Backpackers, campers, families, overlanders, and big groups, look no further, this is the dream camp site you've been looking for! You know how when you plan vacations and you see pretty pictures, but when you get to the beach it looks nothing like the pictures? This is the opposite. It’s even better than the photos!
We had a fantastic stay at Steve's property. Steve greeted us at the entrance and showed us all around the property. This is an investment property for Steve and he has big plans for it, so don't be thrown off by the worn-down house in front. There is a beautiful barn in the restoration process, a small goat pen and tons of deer roaming the rolling hills. The property is a mile long and a half mile wide with many camping sites all over. There could be 100 people staying the night there and you'd still have total privacy in each site. Right in the middle there is a large pond that attracted many deer at dusk. The Shenandoah river runs right behind the property, and beyond that is thousands of acres of forever-wild land. It’s absolutely gorgeous, you’re gonna love it.
Steve had us follow him in my truck out to our spot, which was about a half mile off the road. Any 4 wheel drive would do fine and even a 2 wheel drive if the ground is firm. But you can also park at the front and walk out to your spot. Any big rigs could stay on the gravel road towards the front. There is a porta-potty (very clean!) right near the entrance as well as a water spigot. At our camp site Steve provided a picnic table, grill, garbage bin, dry wood, and a large fire circle. He made sure we were comfortable and offered access to the barn in case any crazy weather rolled in that night.
I highly recommend you stay here. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks again Steve!
Great camping spot very private and the host was very accommodating, we even brought the dog. Everything met or exceeded our expectations will be going again. The host was very kind and upon greeting us took us to our site allowed us to meet the animals on the farm and enjoy all the property had to offer many trails and expansive views. Great getaway right outside Northern Virginia.
Steve showed us around and brought us to the site which was tucked away nicely. There was a fire pit, bench, and picnic table as well as a charcoal grill (even had a bag of charcoal and a lighter). Small pond that the dogs cooled off in a few hundred yards from the site as well as a fenced off area to check out his goats. (There wasn’t direct access to the Shenandoah, but there’s a boat landing in driving distance). We had a good time and you can tell Steve takes care of his land.
Steve and his site were fantastic - we were all alone on the 80 acres even with a last minute booking on Labor Day weekend. The site is private but accessible, with a portapotty, picnic table and grill, and a nearby spigot with potable water. Steve was an excellent host, and we’ve already got plans to return in the fall.
AWESOME SPOT and one of the best camping experiences our group has had.
The property was huge, beautiful and well maintained. The campsite was large and secluded. It was our own little world with everything we needed. We had a lot of fun hiking the property and meeting the goats, chickens and farm dog as well. Great stars at night too!
Steve was welcoming, helpful and a great host! He went above and beyond and provided local recommendations for river activities, sightseeing and wineries/breweries.
Would love to return soon.
Highly recommended spot for camping. We were a group of two families with children, who live just outside DC, and this was our first experience through Hipcamp. The campsite was great--it really did exceed our expectations. Very friendly, responsive host. The campsite felt very private, with nice views, things to explore, and a few nice-to-have conveniences (fire pit, picnic table). A great experience, we were all very happy with the whole trip.
Amazing! The scenery was breathtaking there! Steve was a very helpful host that went out of his way to make sure we had the best stay possible. We all felt very safe staying there and appreciated the that privacy we had!
Steve's property was the perfect spot for my group's camping trip. We had 25 people, 2 kids, and a few dogs, for a weekend campout. The space was secluded, well-maintained, overlooking a pond and the nearby mountains. Steve provided a fire ring, some tables and chairs, a grill, port-a-pot, and lots of firewood. He and his daughter were big helps in showing our group around, and we had fun feeding the goats and chickens. We're already planning our return trip for the spring!
