Great and beautiful place to camp! Large and very nice grassfield, right next to a small creek. Dirk and the family are great hosts. Around the area there are two beautiful small trails with views of the surrounding hills. We spent a great day with a hike to the Natural Bridge, swimming in the James River, finishing of at Hull's Drive-in Cinema. Great camping spot, great host, would definitely recommend!
Come rain or shine; this is a good spot!
At the lower site, downhill, lots of privacy.
We drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and this was a nice stopover, lovely surroundings. You can have nice walks from here.
Dirk and his wife are very helpful.
We arrived after dark and our hosts were very kind to come out and show us how best to get to the site and where we could set up. The site was very pleasant, flat, with a fire ring provided and toilets inside the house offered. Would definitely recommend as a great stopover campsite
Friendly, pretty & safe
Friendly host family and family friendly spot! Dirk has a large property but we set up camp close to the house so my two boys wouldn’t have to hike far for a bathroom. We felt right at home and they even started our fire which was helpful because it had recently rained. Wish we could have stayed longer. Nice hiking nearby. Directions through the hip camp listing using Google maps based on GPS coordinates are slightly confusing though because they send you to the edge of the property, not the house. Use the street address instead.
