LOVED- stay FRIDAY night!
LOVED Chantilly farm so much we booked an extra night. The campground has SO much more than Hipcamp let’s on. In addition to dozens more camping sites which are extremely spread out, all including a fire ring and picnic table, they are renting out micro cabins, tapestry tents, and a huge area for RV’s. In addition to this being one of our absolute favorite camping spots, it was THE cheapest. $12 for a tent site?! WOW. Everything about this place was wow.
We felt so safe and despite there being so many camping sites and options we were SO spread out. Even though we previously booked site #2, the host let us drive around and pick wherever was available. We ended up at site #5 at the top of a giant hill overlooking the entire campground- it was right next to the iconic prancing deer teepee.
This campground has showers and restrooms which are relatively clean and conveniently located. The camp store where you check in at the front is fully stocked with RV hoses, materials, snacks, ice, s’mores ingredients, wood, frisbees, kites, drinks, easy dinners, etc. among the stretching rolling grassy acres of the grounds, you can play disc golf across the entire campground and grab cornhole available at the store for people to use. There is also a little net put up for badminton. Every second of light, kids would be biking the stretching gravel road that goes through the campground. The guy (mike I think) at the front was easy to reach and even when he wasn’t close to the phone, there was multiple numbers you could reach out to or you could catch him on his golf cart through the grounds.
Plan your trip to include FRIDAY. you MUST go into the town of Floyd (only 10 min away) on a FRIDAY NIGHT. If you don’t, you are MISSING OUT ON THE EXPERIENCE. It is family friendly, a cute date spot, and you’ll land in the middle of the entire town coming together for a Friday night jamboree. Banjos, guitar circles, performers, and a crowd in front of the soda fountain at the country store near the park made our experience Friday. This town was nearly skimmed with the virus as cases and population is so little. Even then, makes and distance were respected. Dogtown had amazing pizza and I can’t boast enough about the soda fountain.
