It was a really nice spot! Perfect for a little get away. Everyone at Cambia is very nice and helpful. The hammock ended up being where we spent almost all of our time, and the fire pit is a perfect size for something small at night to pass the twilight hours. You will probably see a couple of people through out the day, but in general it was just us out there. We did hear a lot of dogs at night howling at something far off. Not a ding against the community, just letting people know there are some quirks.
Private wooded campsite
There is public parking just off the road. The location is really convenient to I-64. My walk with my gear was a little longer than anticipated, but it was also nice to be closer to the "restroom" facilities. There are plentiful winding paths leading to the campsites on a large piece of land. I was greeted and shown around the property promptly. It was a lovely night with a full (or near full) moon, clear skies and very chilly for November, but overall a lovely experience.
We had a great time! The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. There was a hammock and a swing at the campsite which was very nice! There is a walk to the campsite from the parking lot but it isn't bad and they give you a wheelbarrow to bring your stuff over.
Lovely, private, fun & camp site.
Cambria is a commune. Bruce greeted us warmly when we arrived and introduced the “hippies.” Lol! We were surprised, but delighted! The campsite is totally private, yet get very safe. It was surrounded by swings, hammocks, and cool webs in the trees. There is a fantastic open-air “school room” outdoors with a fire pit and roof with a really cool construction — perfect in case of rain!! We stayed in October and loved the fall leaves and pretty drive to Shenandoah. Thank you for the lovely stay, Cambria!
We had a really great time. Easy walk down a trail to the campsite with plenty of activities for kids and adults who like fun things. The fire circle was a bit small but big enough for our needs. We had a really great time sleeping under the stars here.
Lovely place to stay! Really fun and really private just what we wanted!! The walk from the car is a little longer than just a few feet or so, and the fire pit is a little small if you want a bigger fire, just somethings to keep in mind but not bad at all! Really a wonderful place to stay and I absolutely plan on going back!!!!
