The vibe at Bamboom Room
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The Bamboom Room is a true surprise. It’s located in Northern Virginia, just a short drive from Leesburg. It’s a true gem of a site. Quiet, peaceful, private and clean.
The entrance to the property is an open gate (the address listed is for the house (if you’re looking at the house it’s the first driveway on your left, NOT the house address). Go down the little hill and across the field (the chicken coop will be on your left) and follow the mowed trail as it winds its way alongside a bamboo grove. Keep your eye out for the blue arrows along the fence and follow them until you get to a little clearing on the right hand side, also marked with tape. You’ve arrived!
The inside of the room sort of felt like entering a movie set or another country. It was hard to believe we were in Virginia. The bamboo surrounds you on all sides except for the entrance and the view to the creek. It reaches all the way up to the sky and blocks out a good bit of sun. It was a really cool place to relax and escape.
If you’ll be staying in your van, there’s a neat square patch of grass that’s been mowed (no poison ivy at all while we were there). Pick a spot (it’s level so you can point yourself in any direction) and set up camp. Even if you’re not going to be pitching a tent, be sure to spend some time in the room. There’s a fire pit, some logs for sitting and a view of the creek.
If you’re in the area, be sure to check this place out. Be sure to screen shot your directions and put the info into your GPS before you leave. (We have Verizon and we didn’t have a signal!)
Had an awesome time here! Was such as nice campsite right on the water. Was hoping to get in the water there but there is a slight cliff, however, we did the Goose Creek hike at nearby Banshee Reeks Preserve that had great access to the creek if you want to cool off! Our host was great and very helpful and the bamboo campsite made us feel like we were not only 1hr away from DC but even in another country. Definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away for the weekend. Only downside was that there was no toilet (although they did mention this in the details on hipcamp so it was no a surprise :) ). Overall I loved it and would go back.
This site was great. Got two thumbs up from my 5 yo, who said it was like a bamboo castle. There's a large fire circle, logs to sit on, and ground flat enough to pitch a tent comfortably. You do need to watch where you step or put a tent though, because stubs of bamboo remain underfoot.
