Consider camping beside the sound of a running brook, a waterfall, 5 (count them 5) swimming holes, multiple hiking, walking, biking, running trails through the 700 acres behind my property. Only 20 minutes from the state capital of Vermont and 6 minutes from an affordable, local restaurant & bar. Site #1 of the 4 camping sites is wheelchair accessible as long as you can navigate the grass. Also, Site #1 is fine for anyone with a pop-up trailer. I am more than willing to move my own personal vehicle so that anyone that needs special access does not have far to navigate and can back straight into site #1 on flat grass with your vehicle. Site #2 of the 4 is on the middle of the hill to the right of an old apple tree, shady & sunny with a view to my flower & vegetable gardens. The other 2 sites (Sites #3-4) are up on a hill which share a large communal fire pit. My guests this month have told me how much they have valued the great deal of privacy the sites have even from each other. I have at least 40 feet between each Site 1 & 2. Sites 3 & 4 are designed for family/group size and both use the large open fire pit. A new Site 5 is nearly complete and again will be 40 feet from the nearest site and will be open next summer. I am also giving each site their own pathways, again to encourage privacy and less disturbance if peoples daily & evening schedules vary. Each site has it's own personal porta-potty for your privacy & comfort. I am also only 6 minutes/6 miles to a fine restaurant, Positive Pie, a local eatery that serves everything; pizza, flatbread, steak, fish, chicken, vegetarian, cocktails and a large selection of IPA beers that Vt is famous for. Do you want to kayak, paddle board, canoe? There is a reservoir only minutes away and requires no docking fee! A recent guest suggested that I add the app "all terrain" to my description. It is a wonderful site that will direct highly active folks to places to climb, hike, bike, find the highest mountain, the longest trail, etc.
DOGS ARE WELCOME, off leash is fine. I have been an in house host for 5 years and have never had a dog fight. I require everyone to add their dog to their human guest head count. I consider my dog a full member of the family as I'm sure you do. It is a minimal add on fee for an extra guest, dog or human, lol!
ACCORDING TO ZONING & STATE REGS, I CAN ONLY HOST 3 CAMPSITES AT A TIME. After any booking date reaches that # I will close out any other sites for the that date, but you still will be able to choose between the site locations offered.
I am located in Plainfield, Vermont, just 20 minutes from central Vermont and the state capital. You will take Highway 89 and get off in Montpelier to travel east on Route 2 to arrive here.
- Check in: After 2PM
- Check out: Before 12PM
- Cancellation policy: Flexible

Places to see near Waterfall & Brook Camp-5 sites
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Staying on Katherine’s land was my first Hipcamp experience and I was not disappointed at all! I would absolutely stay there again! When I arrived, Katherine warmly greeted me outside and gave me a tour of her property and allowed me to pick the site. We stayed at the one in the furthest corner from the house and near the communal fire. It was flat and clean. Katherine has done a great job in readying and maintaining these sites. There are several to choose from, including one very close to the brook in the shade that looked great as well. Katherine was very easy to talk with and laid back, but also not remotely overbearing in hosting. The brook was why I chose to stay at her place and I was pleasantly surprised at it’s awesomeness. There’s a path right from her side yard leading down 10 feet to the brook. The sounds can be heard from the campsite, which is great for campfire fun and sleeping. My friend and I played in the brook for much of our stay, jumping from rock to rock and exploring. It extends for some distance and there are some areas that provide for some good swimming holes deep enough for a swim. Definitely a great place to book and will look forward to returning next summer!
Katherine is a very good host! She was very informative.
The place is absolutely fantastic with the brook very close by to take a swim and have a picnic! I would definitely recommend!
Best stream swimming and camping
Among The BEST stream swimming I’ve encountered in Vermont or anywhere. Private pristine inspiring refreshing and delightful. Beautiful campsites. Easy to access. Can hear the brook music as you float off to sleep. Katherine’s home is lovely and right nearby. She was welcoming, fun, gave a great tour of the five swimming holes. Beautiful trails and wooded places to hang a hammock. Wonderful campfire spots. Dogs welcome and loved. I was truly refreshed and renewed after two days and one night. Truly a gem spot and experience
Our stay at Katherine's was awesome she greeted us showed us around made us feel totally at home. The sound of the brook at night will rock you to sleep not to mention it is absolutely beautiful. Many ponds to explore in the area as well. My husband and dog (Bob) and myself would stay again. It was so nice not to have to put Bob on a leash. Thank you Katherine
Kathy was an absolute delight, the walk around the grounds was beautiful and being so close to such an amazing waterfall/river was incredible. When you went out into the woods you felt as if no one else was around, it was a really nice feeling:)
Rustic car camping by waterfalls.
Waterfall & Brook Camp provided the perfect spot for me and my dog. I just wanted a safe spot where my dog and I could hangout, swim, hike, and bike. Directly for the camp you have access to all of this. If you are expecting showers and flush toilets this is not the spot for you. This is tent camping in a safe wonderful location. You have a brook with waterfalls that runs right next to site one and turns right across the street in front of Katherine's house. Katherine does provide private composting toilets at each location which is a plus. Site 1 is right next to the path to the brook and bike path and in view of the house. Site 2 is the prettiest with it's own fire pit and up a little hill. It is the least private since it has a full view of the backyard and house but both are so cute to look at. Site 3 and 4 are more off to the side and in the woods and are still being cleared. All you hear at all the camp sites is the waterfalls which has lots of pools to cool down in after biking and hiking.
It is so nice to have a place to go where dogs are allowed off leash. Katherine and Snap are so welcoming to dogs. One note is if you dog is not good at recall be careful of the road. The speed limit is 35 mph and the house is around a bend with the dirt road right in front. There are not a lot of cars but they do whip around the corner. So if your dog wonders you might want to bring a long leash when in camp to keep them off the road. But the path by the brook and the bike path has plenty of space to roam and no one bothered me about my dog being off leash.
Katherine and Snap are very welcoming and will give you so good local sites to see. I ended up spending mornings and afternoon going to locations directly from Katherine's backyard. In late afternoon I went to a few of the sites around the area such as Hope Cemetery, Braggs Farm, Cabot, and a distillery in a country store.
Katherine was a very nice and caring host. Her house was beautiful and the site matched perfectly with the description. The waterfall was beautiful but the water was a bit too cold for swimming at this time of the year.
