MIke was a fantastic host. Site is beautiful and just as described. Barn included a record player, speakers, a great vinyl collection, dart board, and a warm wood stove (wood provided as well). Little to no light or noise pollution; great for stargazing at night and a calm cup of coffee on the hill in the morning. In walking distance of a nice state park, and driving distance of everything else Vermont has to offer. Our time spent here was made even better through multiple visits from Mike's amazing Golden retriever. If i could live in that barn i would. Great Stay.

It was a really big loft with a small, non-smoky wood stove. The stove was warm if you sat right in front of it - otherwise, I wore my jacket and hat the whole time (January). I set up my tent inside the loft which helped me stay warm enough overnight for sleeping - with the rain fly it was perfect! I cooked on the wood stove. The “Bathroom” was a toilet seat over a pit in the yard. And the view and mountains were beautiful! Lake Shaftsbury was a 5-10 minute walk. Mike’s family farm makes pizza and they were delicious!!! He was so helpful, friendly- and very respectful of my privacy.

Mike is a GREAT guy, down to earth post and beam is just like pictures and if you have 4wheel take a drive up to the top of hill and make sure you get some of his maple syrup and pizza. Our stay was when temperatures were 3 degrees at night January 23, 2021. I’ll be back !!

Timbertrail Post and Beam was an exceptional winter getaway for myself & my partner!

At the very end of a scenic driveway, just past the chicken coop and main house is a rustic, but solid barn; complete with indoor parking! Up the loft stairs was enough room for a herd of elephants, and we just had our tent.

Mike was a great host, with wood available to purchase for the cast iron stove, the heat source for the barn! He gave us a quick how-to on the stove, showed us where all the switches were and gave us free reign of the in-barn record player. There was a fresh outhouse dug just before we arrived, and it was only a short walk to it from the backdoor of the barn. Mike was easy to communicate with during our stay and provided more wood as requested.

We cooked using the wood stove on occasion, as well as our own propane camp stoves we had brought along. We opted for darts, but Mike provides an air hockey and ping pong table as well for entertainment. If the conditions are right, he'll even let you sled down the hill on the property! We stay layered up, since it was between 15-25° out while we were there, and as long as we kept the stove fed, it was comfortable.

Just off RT 7, this is the perfect place to stay if winter activities excite you. Over our long weekend we were able to snowshoe around Shaftsbury Lake (the state park is almost literally across the street), visit some townie establishments and go skiing (we chose Mt.Bromley but there are so many places close by).

Everything we did was less than a half hour drive, and everytime we came back to the property Mike's awesome dog Harvey welcomed us home.

We can't wait to go back, no matter what the weather!

P.S. Be sure to buy some Maple Syrup (direct from Mike's property) and ask about the Pizza Oven and baked goods too.

Just one of the many vw/westfalia vans on Mike's property & a beautiful winter view in the morning. The chicken coop is here as well!Record player (& record collection!), Ping pong table and air hockey. What a way to recreate. Picnic table provided for morning coffee (percolated on the wood stove!)Our tent fit perfectly near the wood stove!

This is such a beautiful getaway. Mike was by far our coolest host yet and did so much to make us comfortable. The barn is very equipped for a night in, with air hockey, darts, ping pong and a record collection to die for! The property is gorgeous and the hiking is amazing. Mike is friendly and fun and outgoing and an amazing person. We learned a lot from him. Tips: EAT THE PIZZA! It was literally the best pizza we’ve ever had. You WILL be cold in the barn, layer up and sleep by the fire. But there’s so much to explore you can spend all day outside. Mike allowed us to cook on our propane stove and his sweet pup Harvey greeted us occasionally. Definitely a fun and friendly place to get away and have some friendly conversation and beautiful scenery.

EAT THIS PIZZA 🍕 The barn!A little friendly match 🏒 Our pupper loved it too 🐾
