Exclusive back-to-basics get-away in the heart of Vermont is all yours here. A gorgeous, private swimming hole and a sandy, sunny beach are just a few steps away from your tent door: swim, fish, paddle, sun and siesta. Listen for the call of a horse or hawk.  Situated in the Scenic Mad River Valley Byway (between Waitsfield and Stowe / Waterbury), there are too many adventures to choose from! Visit, play and relax at Sugarbush Resort, Bolton Valley Resort, Waterbury Train Station, Ben & Jerry's Factory, Red Hen Bakery, Alchemist Brewery (among others) and many more.  Meanwhile, back at the campsite, enjoy a slow-paced, relaxing time with a leisurely forest trail that leaves directly from the site, an on-demand hot water shower, a 20" Weber charcoal kettle grill, a main 'gathering' tent with table and chairs and 2 cots, a clean and comfortable outhouse and yard games such as mini corn hole, frisbee and old fashioned horse shoes. We also have 5 River Run tubes (with cupholders, handles and hooks) for rent: please inquire about the rate, details and tubing route. This is Forest/Beach/OpenMeadow/River private camping at its best. We have plenty of dry, level, open space in the main campsite area for at least 4  tents, with additional level comfortable ground in the adjacent meadow. Do you have a larger group or an event?  The adjacent, open, mowed field can situate a variety of tents and parking, so we can usually accommodate.  Just ask! We also offer horsemanship and riding lessons ($35/30 minutes or $65/hour). Visit our website: Horses and Pathfinders - we'd love to hear from you.

Staying at Lucinda’s place was better than we hoped for- the space was private, with everything we needed, and more. The river is incredible, and there are many additions to make it a very fun and comfortable experience. One of the nicest camping experiences I’ve had!

I have to say I’ve had some memorable camping experiences but Lucinda’s site was one of my favourites ever! It’s exactly what you would want - beautiful camping site in the trees, fully stocked with everything from fire pit and benches to a fully enclosed master tent with kitchen table, charcoal grills, shower with hot water, composting toilet, beautiful view, completely private, swimming beach and huge boulders to suntan on! Oh and the first night we had our own light show of fireflies, which was absolutely beautiful.

Lucinda was very kind and accommodating, and showed us in even though we arrived a little bit later than expected. My only hesitation about leaving too much of a glowing review is letting the secret of this gem out ;) Honestly, you will not be disappointed!

Second time going to camp at Horses and Pathfinders, and flawless again! As I described in my last review, this place is a lil slice of heaven, everything that you could possibly want out of a camping experience!

Lucinda's property is absolutely amazing. So much better than I anticipated. The campsite is nestled in a nice wooded area with a beautiful beach/river/swimming hole on one side and wide open field on the other. There is also a communal tent to hangout in, lawn chairs, fire pit, and all the camping essentials you may need. Lucinda was great as well. Super friendly and introduced me to her horses.

This campground was just perfect! It was my first time using hipcamp and definitely won’t be my last. Lucinda was an awesome host and very accessible throughout my trip. Even though the camp site was on her property it still felt very secluded. I loved that it was right on the water, I felt like I had my own little river oasis! The amenities were great and I wish I could take all my showers outdoors (the water stays hot!) I highly recommend Lucinda’s site, fantastic stay. :)

Beautiful sunset over the water. Perfect-sized campground. Loved the firepit! The water right in your backyard!

My two kids and I adored our stay here. We have done some camping together elsewhere, but this place really hit all the criteria for making camping with kids pleasurable. The kitchen sink and outhouse are situated perfectly and make life feel very comfy. The “living room” tent, as we called it, was a great addition to our site. The creek was the biggest draw, and we spent most of our time in it. It’s a short walk from the campsite and I could even cook breakfast while watching my kids splash about in waist high water. The water was beautiful with many cool jumping off spots. We didn’t tube this year, but Lucinda offers it and it seems like it would be great fun. We loved The Village Market for ice and grocery/food choices- it was a 9 minute drive.
We also did two days of somatic horse experiences with Lucinda, and her lead mare Abby, & my daughter is still talking about it. It was a deeply impactful experience for us both and we would come back for a Horse camp in the future if possible. Overall, a very sweet, peaceful and easy stay. Thank you Lucinda!

Thank you so much for this amazing review Jaye! We loved having you three as guests and campers here, and truly hope to see you return for a vacation or retreat next summer too. And yes - bring other tribes with you, we'd love to host more homeschoolers for lots of interactive and learning activities with the horses and Nature!

Amazing property, even nicer than the pictures and descriptions. We came with friends and their kids and the kids did a guided horse lesson with Lucinda which they loved.

Thank you so much Matt -- I truly enjoyed meeting you all. I had such a great time with your friend's daughters getting on Horse Time. You and your tribe were memorable in different ways - your easy going and positive vibe, appreciation for the property and respectfulness as low impact campers - and more. You are very welcome back and I hope to see you again!

This place was gorgeous! It was completely secluded and had everything you could want: a beach area for swimming, woodsy area with a hiking trail, a meadow area, and an amazing view (our painter friend got to paint a beautiful landscape scene)! We were located close to all major hikes and everything you could need in Stowe/Waterbury. The site had enough space for 4 tents with room to spare. It was nice having a warm shower after long days of hiking, and a compost toilet was a definite plus (BYO toilet paper). Many other essentials were provided including cutlery, bug spray, cutting board, etc. We carried out the trash we brought in. The dogs were absolutely the happiest I’ve ever seen! We are already planning a trip back. Most importantly we have thank Lucinda and her son for their assistance and clear communication!!!
