We live on 27 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry used to hay the fields, now the local dairy farmer is haying the fields. This property was a fallow dairy farm called the Common View Farm when we bought it in 2007. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property. Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story? There are 20 acres of hay fields, 7 acres are woods. We have one old goat, Brownie, and our dog, Tinker, who runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans. Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. The house closest to the forest path to the camp no longer belongs to us rather neighbors who value their privacy. To be good neighbors we ask our guests to stay within the bounds of the property. It is from the beginning of the path and the 6 acres of woods where the camp is located. You know when you've reachd the edge of our property where the path ends and where you see a sign notifying property boundary edge. Learn more about this land: The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area. You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns. In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing. Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, coffee/tea set ups. Wi-Fi/cell cov is not available. There is a privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up. This is truly tiny space, however; sleeps 2 adults. You will have a table and chairs for a sit down chat or meal. In the dryer months fire-burning may be ill-advised or outright prohibited, you'll be advised. The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area. In the dryer months fire-burning may be ill-advised or outright prohibited, you'll be advised. Craftsbury is a farming, skiing and educational community. Food growers, cheese makers, brewers, Sterling College and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center are the backbone of our economy. We are a hop, skip and a jump from Farmstead Brewery, Jasper Hill (or Cellers) cheese makers, Circus Smirkus, Bread and Puppet radical political theater. The Museum of Everyday Life, and the Highland Arts Center. I love it here and my guess is you will, too, if you like mountain views, great day hikes, local food and drink and a laid back vibe.

Gwen was fabulously communicative and when an issue came up with our original booking, they were super accommodating. We had a lovely stay and everything was as promised! Even though the unpredictable New England weather meant we arrived to a power outage, they were quick to respond and super helpful. Would love to go back!

Everything. Everything is magical. My husband and I never take solo trips w/o kids, but managed to squeeze in a weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had the best day of our lives at Gwen and Larry’s wagon! This is most definitely a gift they are giving to others. Everything was touched with love. The woods were medicinal and vibrating with such good energy. I can’t quite explain how special this place is, but I felt like it was mine. So that’s something 🥰 Thank you for lending this space to us!

An absolutely magical spot! We had a cozy rainy couple of nights in the wagon, and enjoyed making dinner and eating outside at the beautiful table by the light of the oil lamp. It couldn't possibly be lovelier; the wagon, location, and surrounding forest are all gorgeous. Even the outhouse is comfortable with loving touches. Gwen and Larry were communicative and very helpful. I'm so grateful that they share this spot with others and that I got to be one of the lucky ones to experience it. Hoping to come back sooner than later.

A taste of hippie paradise!

Vermont Northwoods Shepherd Wagon

Our stay in the Gipsy Wagon was beyond our expectations! Gwen and Larry were extremely helpful and kind. They build a peaceful place filled with love. The place is cozy and intimate, and has everything you really need. They also gave us tips on were to go around (The Bread and Puppet Museum is a must see). We would go back there in a heartbeat!

Its a very nice peaceful and original place. Everything was perfect only missed bigger saucepan and some kitchen utensil. The bed is pretty small for two but perfect for lover couple. We don't have meet Gwen but her husband Larry is very kindly..

This was by far one of coolest things I have experienced ever! I have nothing but complete gratitude towards the hosts - they made me feel more than comfortable as I was traveling alone - I felt safe, cozy, and welcomed. I took notice to every little detail that went into creating this magical space - I took in everything I possibly could while staying for two nights - I thought about venturing out but I couldn’t pass up any of the time spent there. I look forward to returning one day! And highly recommended experiencing as I would call - Bliss!

We absolutely loved the Gypsy Wagon! It was even better then on the photos. The spot was really private, the open kitchen is amazing and the bed was very confortable. Gwen recommended hikes and lakes near by that were also great. We highly recommend and would definitely go back!

Gwen and Larry were wonderful! They had everything you could need to have a nice trip away. The wagon was beautiful and the area around was as well. They were SO kind and accommodating. This is definitely a place that helps you get off the grid for a moment! I will definitely be back!

Larry and Gwen have a beautiful property! The gypsy wagon is down a path from their farmhouse, and feels so secluded and homey! The wagon had all of your basic amenities to cook, make tea/coffee and plenty of water. The bed is small, but VERY comfy! Outside there are 2 spots to have a nice fire - in the front of the wagon and the back. We had one going out front and ate dinner on a log. There's a very cute sitting area/dish washing station off to the side of the wagon which was very convenient. The outhouse out back is one of the nicest, cleanest and well crafted I have ever seen! There are a lot of personal touches in the wagon and surrounding property. Larry and Gwen really took a lot of great care with putting this amazing place together. I very much enjoyed staying out at the wagon. 10/10!
