1850 sq. ft. cabin on 10 acres that back up to the National Forest in Granville, VT. Cabin has 4 bedrooms and 1 and a half baths. This is an off the grid property but has running hot water and gas refrigerator and gas jotul heater for chilly Vermont nights.

This is truly a remote setting. The property is 3/4 mile up a road that is very steep and rough with large rocks. Only vehicles with 4 wheel drive low gears  and high clearance should be driven up to the property.

If you don’t drive a 4 wheel drive low gear vehicle, owner can transport guests with their supplies and then it is "hike to" only.  However, because of the road, there is practically no traffic and no noise. Waterfalls are the only sound you will hear plus an occasional song bird.  There is a large open yard surrounding the property and it is very dog friendly. No worries about traffic or neighbors because there aren't any.

The cabin has a large open floor plan that provides lots of space for relaxing. There are 4 bedrooms -  3 upstairs and one downstairs. There is a queen-sized bed in the upstairs master bedroom, two twin beds in second room upstairs, and a full-size bed in third bedroom upstairs. Downstairs bedroom has an antique 4 poster mahogany full-size bed. There is a large wrap-around deck that overlooks the East Ridge Mountains in Granville, VT.

There are many hiking trails just outside the door. A good hike would be to Texas Falls (about an 8 mile round trip). From Texas Falls, you can get on the Long Trail and continue for a more vigorous hike. Or you can drive to Texas Falls, which is about a 7 mile trip, and catch the Long Trail from there.

Granville is a 39 minute car ride to Middlebury College.  Middlebury College is one of the most highly regarded liberal arts colleges in the country. You can go to their site at www.middleburycollege.edu and look at their events calendar to find things to do there this fall.

Granville is also only 10 miles from the Mad River Valley which includes Sugarbush Ski Area and various tourist attractions in Warren and Waitsfield. There is a farmers' market in Waitsfield every Saturday and Sugarbush Ski area offers a zip line and mountain biking. Also, Sugarbush Soaring at the Warren/Sugarbush airport offers glider rides and instruction in 2 place gliders.

Gail's cabin was unbelievable. Such an amazing escape on our trip from NYC up to Vermont. The cabin has all the dishes you need for a great meal. There is a beautiful porch in the back for a morning coffee with a beautiful view. She was also so responsive and helpful when we were coordinating getting to the property. Would recommend getting there before sundown! You also do need a car with a lot of clearance if you're going to drive up to the cabin. It's pretty much just as fast to walk up though so if I went back I would not worry about having the right car I'd just enjoy the hike up and carry in all my stuff.

What an incredible Hipcamp! Such treat to stay at Gail's cabin for two nights with autumn in the air.

The road up to the cabin is stunning and makes for a really beautiful 15-20 walk. Or, if you have a 4 wheel drive low vehicle with good clearence you can drive right up! In our case, Gail generously offered to drive us with all of our bags in her truck :)

The cabin has an amazing wrap-around porch, a wood stove, a generator for electricity and a well-stocked kitchen. On top of it, the view from the porch is breathtaking.

front yard!wrap around porch! great for morning coffee and pancakes :)back porch!can't get enough of this porch

Gail's cabin is a secluded, rural dream. The combination of no electricity, limited cell service, and the 15 minute off road driveway up a mountain (require 4WD LOW!!) it was an experience unlike anything else. The property is absolutely stunning, and you have the entire mountainside to yourself. My friends and I used the kitchen to cook beautiful meals and slept soundly in the silence of seclusion. Gail is so awesome! I recommend getting to know her if you find yourself able :-)

If you're looking for a true Vermont experience - stay here! Make sure your car has 4x4 LOW and high clearance! If not, you'll need to hike up. There is hardly any cell service up there unless you have AT&T - keep that in mind! Gail was a great, responsive host!
